F16 pilots are also allowed lasik, you need to undergo extra tests after operating

Why wouldn't someone who has gone to med school and has access to lasik equipment be able to get a commercial license in their spare time?

@GTS925...if you are a Filipino...this is what you must do. get your class 1 medical from CAAP. The first test you have to do is the eye check. CAAP itself has a threshold above which they mandate LASIK for you to get the class 1. so you do not have a choice. Ask the doctor at CAAP who handles the eye test..she will be kind enough to guide you on this. 2 of my friends who had high grades for their corrective lenses were asked to perform LASIK and both are flying for Cebupac now. If you are an Indian in Philippines it is a different ball game.

@naughtyjay...what has an F16 pilot got to do with commercial flying in India? I know somenbody who passed DGCA class 1 and went thru all the hoops to get a job in an airline only to be done in by the company doctor. So yeah DGCA might allow but does not necessarily mean that the airline will allow it.

Done with Lasik having query and in dilemma

Hello all guys I am new on this most informative forum PPRuNE which is helping a lot and now I am asking u a query

Myself Saurabh Anarase from Pune, friends I have done with my engineering this year and now looking very passionately for pilot as a career. I was having a huge number so one dgca doctor told be to undergo LASIK now after LASIK with correction the vision is coming to 6/6 partial in right eye and 6/6 in left eye and combined by correction is 6/6 so my questions are one by on as follows -

1. There would not be any obstacle in clearing with class 1 ?
2. Which one is more preferable and recommended IAM or AFCME ?
3. I was operated on 14th Sept 2016 so according to dgca cooling period is 6 months so accordingly cooling period is getting over on 14th March 2017 so should I apply for CLASS 2 after that only ?

Thanks for reading my query, hope to get with your reply soon
