I have visited EVA's company dormitory( I think this is the accommodation that EVA says, but not sure) this year. It's located off downtown Taipei and took about 30-40minutes for taxi ride, Located in Taoyuan city. Many place to eat, shop.

Building itself is bit old but it was under renewal construction.
So, for the renewed room, excellent! Nice interiors, newest furnitures equipped, clean toilet and bath, like an high standard hotels. So no worry about room quality at least.

There was a convenience store on the 1st floor. Laundry service available by company.
Parking lots, the EVA guy said very cheap.

Hi everybody, just did the interview with eva through apas, very professional agency and really nice people!!. Day 1 was the written test, on this same thread, previous pages u can find everything that is on the test, 80% to pass, if u fail they give u another chance. After that there is a sim check on the 744, no questions, no ifr maneuvers. Just simple stuff like 45 degree bank turns, climbing and descending @ 1000fpm, v1 cut, 1 eng inop ils and landing, i think the key is to try your best to follow the FD! You wont have it all the time, but most of time u will!.

Second say was the interview, we were given an scenario and each one of us had to say what we would do, then had to ask questions among each other about the previous answers. After that there was the individual interview, I was asked questions regarding my current type and a couple of questions regarding approach charts. Third and fourth was medical and icao test.

My overall experience was that eva looks like a well organized good company, the dormitory was very good, everything clean and new, big screen tv as well. I applied through Apas, they were very good and professional, the service was 10/10, I highly recommend them!!

I had a look on the Rishworth contract... so on the first 10 months after checked to the line they will discount 1000-1700usd per month from your salary and then if you leave them before 36-24-12 months they will require you to pay more money?

You have the same with APAS?

I have a friend who just passed throught the same experience....Passing all the assessments and just 11 days before the Type Rating he got a letter declining him.

So be careful, they are not serious...

Looks like they ordered 24 787 and + 5 777F a few months ago...

They really ask for 2000+ commercial hours (airline hours) as advertised by rishworth or just 2000TT with 500h on jet?

How likely would you be to ever see the left seat at Eva? I am currently on the NG but want to fly a widebody soon. Command upgrade is the deciding factor between somewhere like EVA and UAE.

How likely are you to see this 5-15 hrs of overtime? It makes a big difference in the take home pay.

Got invited to assessment in TPE from April 25-28. Working on multiple jobs but EVA would be a good fit with the commuter schedule for me.

This is the NTR 747 FO position with Direct Personnel. Any experiences from anybody? So far they've sent over some general familiarization items and had me complete a psych eval (online).

Just thought I will share this with you guys. You will upgrade here to the left seat even if you come through the agency. That should not be the problem. However, the upgrade will be on the A320 and not the widebodies as you would think. To get upgraded on the widebody you need atleast 6 or 7 years with the company, I forgot the exact years and atleast 7000 hours or so and a certain number of landings on EVA aircraft. They have certain set of rules.

And regarding people being let go during training, it happens yes. The training is lengthy and intensive. Also, the newer terms are just a pay raise of about $500(USD) a month after taxes.

I am not sure how the pilots hired directly by EVA plays with pilots being hired through the agency. I believe their get higher seniority.

They are quite strict with flying standards. If you don't meet the standards or do not adhere to the SOP, you will get cut no matter what. Rest good place to learn and enjoy the flying.

2. Can a single pilot elect for either company housing or a housing allowance?

3. Could someone please post a typical wide body roster.

4. How is the management/pilot relationship?

5. I notice that you can either apply on Eva's website or through a contractor. What is the benefit of either choice? I am American.

Atlas, Be realistic. Command time is not fixed or not assured anywhere outside your home country ! They say 4-5 years command but looks quite hard. They Are hiring quite a bunch of local cadets who will overtake you from day 1 as your seniority for the first contract is only counted half. You can just hope you get upgraded in 5 years and it's jus a hope !

I would suggest choose the airline based on what you get at the moment. Command opportunity is just one deciding factor and not the only deciding factor.

1- After you are done with the agency/broker deductions (which you get back) you will be making on average AFTER TAXES 5900usd+perdiem... so just around the 7k mark. Sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less. So plan between 6500 to 7500 a month in your pocket.

2- Yes

3- Depends on the ship. At the end it doesnt matter when you fly but when you get your days off. As an expat you get 8 days off - straight/month plus 22 days of yearly vacations.

4- OK...

5- Contractor/broker/agency how ever you want to call it....it might be faster to get a call but you will have the deductions etc. 3 year bond vrs a 4 year bond.

5-10... Very likely...specially on the 777.

Any insight into Eva's travel benefits? Do you pay to travel? Business upgrades? How is the priority and how difficult is it to get a seat? Jumpseating?
