Scrap Planes to Buy
Hi , I am looking for 2-3 or more scrap aircraft to buy at a good price for a business venture in India with a seating capacity of at least 6 seats. I have seen a few thrown away by the runway in places like Kolkata and Coimbatore while coming in to land but I do not know whether the government would sell them or to whom to contact. If you do have any info as to where I can purchase them, I would really appreaciate your help.
Thanks and Regards,
Charlie

Research requirementsfor taking scrapped parts off an aircraft, and making them airworthy for resale…provided that is what your intentions are.
The Eachpart must have a "birth certificate", and "adoptioncertificate" any time that part is sold, or transferred with thoroughrecords of repair, overhaul, or restoration to airworthiness condition.
Legitimate aviation agencies have this requirement do tocounterfeit parts out there along with forged records of parts that are resold.
There are unscrupulous maintenance facilities from allwalks of life that take measures to avoid these requirements, thus placingunsuspecting crews and passengers at risk.

It will be silly to use scrap plane and restore them back.
Might as well get a second-fourth-fifth hand airplane in the States. Ask somebody to fly them back to India.
It cost much less than you are going to spend on restoration.

There are plenty in Indonesia ranging from Fokker 27, Fokker 28, Boeing 737-200/300. All the useful parts have been canabalised so what you're getting is pretty much the airframe only. Nice for making in to a restaurant or similar. Prices from 10K to 20K USD from what I've heard.

@training wheels- that is something similar to what i intend to do with them. Something creative of that sort in india and i have a feeling i could get them bodies real cheap in india looking at the way thy are thrown around those airports provided they do not have a history behind them but te government here is real complicated to deal with.
Really appreciate your help. Will try and find out about the indonesian market.
Cheers,
Charlie

Last year in Kolkata there were 2 737-200's that sat in the hangar there for years until suddenly a ton of guys with little hammers and a couple of trucks turned up and they bashed the crap out of the planes until they were in little pieces and then sold as scrap... there are a couple of Air India 737 -200 freighters at Kolkata at the moment and a ton of Kingfisher A320s and ATRs around the country that are never to fly again... if you watch the paper and get some contacts then I bet you can pick one up for scrap price.

The biggest problem with buying these old aircraft is who really owns them , in Asia and developing countries this isn't as easy as you think to find out, not getting clear title can create a lot of problems with banks and the real owners chasing you.

A little off topic. But as someone pointed out bringing a plane from another country..
Is it true that you can only import an aircraft less than 5 years old into india ?
Meaning, a 1980 registered King Air (completely airworthy) from US is not eligible to be imported and registered in India.
I heard this somewhere, but i might be completely wrong. Can anyone clarify. Thanks.

I don't know about India but Indonesia has a 20 year age limit on initial importation of aircraft for part 135 ops and a 37 year total life limit.
No age limit for training and private aircraft so old 1970's and 1980's Cessnas can still be imported

Aircraft Spairs Like Wing, Door etc required
we intend to use some of the scrapped aircraft components for an Theme interior project. Need an aircraft wing, few seats, and door. Need not be very big in size as need to take it inside building as well.
Please let me know from where we can source it. I am told that Pune or Bangalore might have some junk dealer who can provide it.

Watch out for those F-27s at Coimbatore.
They are so full of snakes that they keep an entire airfields worth of mongoose fed.
I wouldn't go in there for anything....
