Oops looks like I missed out on that requirement
Hmmm... I wonder if it was a mistake that they omitted the General Category out ?
How many Captains are they going to get with ST / SC / OBC category ?

Air Indias pilot hiring drive fails to take off
KOCHI: It seems there are not many takers for the lucrative offers dropped by Air India Express in its bid to recruit native pilots to operate the Boeing 737-800 fleet. Aimed at uninterrupted service, the low-coast arm of Air India had launched a recruitment drive for pilots in which preference was given to Indians.
The aim of the Kochi-headquartered company, which mainly serves caters to the Gulf region, was to base some of its pilots in Kochi, Kozhikode and Mangalore from where AI Express operates a major share of its flights.
“We did not get the required number of aviators even after announcing plush offers. The number is so poor that it has not even crossed five,” said S Chandrakumar, chief operating officer of AI Express. The airline’s plan was to recruit 25 commanders and 20 co-pilots.
Currently, AI Express commanders and co-pilots are based in Mumbai. For operating a flight, they have to come all the way from Mumbai to these cities.
Considering expenses incurred for accommodating them in hotels and the travel costs, the best option for the company was to base them in the respective cities.
The company also announced additional allowances of Rs 1 lakh. The remuneration for a commander with AI Express is $100,000 (Rs 4.94 lakh) per month.
AI Express fleet consists of 21 B737-800 aircraft and it operates nearly 100 flights per week, mainly from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. At present, the airline has 108 commanders, out of which 15 are expatriates.
“Hiring expatriate commanders is expensive. That is why we look for Indians,” said Chandrakumar.
Chandrakumar said that the lack of pilots was one of the reasons for clubbing of some services when the company had to reschedule its flights after the guide-
lines under Window of Circadian Low (WOCL) came into force in February this year.
“Clubbing of certain services were essential to ensure uninterrupted service,” he added

They like every other airline in India or the world for that matter are short of experienced commanders.
Meanwhile First officers can be found loitering around everywhere, my close friend who started flying for express back in 2010 was averaging 70-80 Hours every month which is now down to 65, says there is an overabundance of pilots fighting for the RHS.

I have never seen and advertisement of such sort where only SC/ST/OBC candidates are being invited, I know that a certain percentage of vacancies are kept for the SC/ST/OBC but the unreserved guys are not at all being entertained. The previous recruitment advertisement from them was when they were looking for Type Rated TRI/TRE/Capt/Co-pilots with the minimums for co-pilots being Type Rated with 500 Hrs on type!!!! How on earth are they gonna find Indian Co-pilots who are type rated and unemployed with 500 Hrs on type?? Until we have a batch of lion air guys returning!!!... I do not understand the ideology if it exists behind their recruitment drives!! I believe its just an eyewash!

They have removed the requirement for SC / ST and OBC and now any Indian citizen can apply .
The only catch is you have to be type rated and and flying with any airline

with all due respect to you sir, i still doubt they would have anyone jumping ships to AI Express, recently a couple of fresh released captains from SG were offered the AI express contract which looked really good on paper but none of them took it seriously. Lets keep a close watch, as far as i know they have not been able to cash in on any crew (Captains,TRE,TRI). I think they have enough cadet pilots to fill in the Right Seat. As far as Co-pilots from Spice and Jet are concerned i think most of them have bonds and contracts which they would not be in a position to forfeit.

they just do not know what they want since they are broke and lack the right leadership , once the airline is run by true professionals only it might start making money and be safe again , almost all expats were fooled and not paid ,that is why they are all leaving and ai express is at risk of another fatal accident , very scary stories there!!!
