Contract - Sim and Flying Recency

I notice every contract out there wants you to be current on type (flown within 3 months to 24 months).
Others actually require 3 months Sim currency remaining on start.

Why?

Has anyone started a contract job and NOT completed a Sim using the new airlines procedures.
I would have thought it was a requirement.

I expect they would all do a few line sectors and then a line check for the airline.

So anyone know why they require 3 months Sim currency remaining on contract start.
