Fly in Chine with a JAA licence??
The company that is employing you can get a validation of your JAA licence for six months; after that you have to have a Chinese licence. You cannot do that by yourself. That used to be the procedure; others will tell you if it has changed.

For airlines here,it seems that a chinese licence is necessary before working for them.
I never heard of any who flew with their national licence while obtaining the caac one.
ICAO 4 test is inhouse ie ull have to pass a CAAC ICAO English test.

At least at the airline level, have to get a Chinese license. I don't know about corporate, helos, etc. The license is pretty quick. Written CAAC test, medical, and a check ride. After you get those you the company should be able to get the license in a couple of weeks. Airport security ID, and work visa might take a lot longer, depending on airline and province. I can't speak for all airlines but that takes 2-4 months, total, at mine.
