NoodleAir Maybe if we start a "China expat pilots union"

That will do it.
The market is already doing it, there are now contracts in China that have been increased to close to 20K, some are making that with overtime already, other are increasing their days off and improving their commuting conditions due to the deficit in hiring numbers, increased competition is making it hard for even the good contracts to fill the classes they have proyected, the time is very good for negotiating excellent T&C's and all without the first third selling out the other two thirds

Several contracts now offer 20K per month. Some also offer a 6/3 week commuting option, one I saw was 4 months on and 8 months off, 40 days on and 20 days off and 39/21 days on/off also exist. You have to shop around and remember everything is negotiable. The high cost of fuel though is slowing down the Chinese economy and airline growth will be affected by high oil. Remember in China the narrowbody pay far exceeds the widebody pay. Commuting is certainly an option but Chinese domestic and Intra-Asian International schedules under Chinese domestic rules make living in Asia or China your best bet. Maximum of 4 sectors per day and maximum of 4 days consecutive with a normal 2 days off in between make living and working here attractive. Get in and do 2 contracts and make the big cash and then retire to a nice retirement style job where you want to live.

It's china. Don't touch it. All will not be as it seems. If you still decide to go make sure you read the threads on living in china and being treated by the Chinese etc before making the decision. Think long and hard guys. The streets are not paved with gold.
Good luck if you decide to go.

Anyone considering the "Opportunity of a Lifetime" to "Experience China", as pitched by the recruitment agencies premier snake-oil salesman, will find an insight to Chinese "methods" and the JUNIOR CAPTAIN sham, detailed in the following thread:
