China selective ban?

Heard from a friend and former colleague that was trying to join me here that his application was banned by the CAAC for "security" issues. No problem with his visa and all, just for aviation employment (!). Did not give him any more details. (he is not Japanese or Taiwanese just in case you are wondering)

Read a couple of posts mentioning similar incidents for several nationalities with perfectly normal diplomatic relations between their countries and China.

Anyone can give any insight on that? Is it another Chinese trick that can happen to us also next time we are almost ready to get the annual bonus payment!!!???

This country surprises me every time.....

Hmmmmm. This is new to me, but not surprising. I am surprised that they have so many Americans considering the political alignments of China and its allies vs the USA and its allies.

It may be a mere excuse to divert attention from another issue.

Hi NoodleAir,do not worry, as you are flying in China, right? your friend may have different background from yours, that is why CAAC banned him. Indeed, CAAC will not accept people from some countries for security reason. But not Japaness, not taiwaness.

flyingdog00, since you seem to know a bit more, clarify what this security reasons mean, and if you can give us a list of examples.
