China Eastern probes plane's unauthorized

China Eastern Airlines announced Tuesday that it had already begun investigating an incident from the day before in which one of its planes took off from a Japanese airport without listening to instructions.

China Eastern Airlines' flight MU 516, carrying 245 passengers plus flight crew, was reported as taking off at around 13:45 local time (12:45 Beijing Time) Monday from Kansai Airport in Osaka without the approval of air traffic controllers, according to Japan's Kyodo News Agency.

The report said that air traffic control personnel at Kansai Airport ordered the A330 aircraft to wait for instructions while it was on the runway. However, the plane turned a deaf ear to the request and began accelerating forward in an auxiliary lane road. Although air traffic controllers asked it to come to a halt, the aircraft took off and left the airport.

The report added that the plane had landed in Shanghai Pudong Airport at 14:57 Beijing Time.

The aircraft may be in breach of Japan's Aviation Act, despite not causing any specific security problems. Japanese authorities will investigate the incident, the Kyodo News Agency quoted Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) as saying.

China Eastern Airlines has said that it has contacted air traffic control authorities in Japan and that the matter is currently under investigation.

I hope this doesn't actually "surprise" anyone. Look for more of these types of issues to increase.

Just because you have a card saying you have LVL 5 English - it sure doesn't make it true
