Thumbs up Pilots from Rae Bareli top AI hiring list

New Delhi: Campus selection of trainee pilots is few and far between in the country with nearly 4,000 of them looking for jobs in a surplus market.
Aspiring pilots, however, can hope to improve their prospects if they are from the flying training school in Rae Bareli, the parliamentary constituency of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Almost 62 candidates out of the total 80 pursuing the training course at the Rae Bareli academy have been recruited and one can easily guess the recruiting airline. Public sector airline Air India has hired the trainee pilots even as it is facing the problem of plenty. This has happened at a time when Uttar Pradesh is going to polls next year and politicians want to charm people with the feel-good factor.

“Air India offered the letters of appointment to 62 pilots in July. The airline had come for a lesser number of pilots but it found quality in our pilots and hired more,” Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) director Air Marshal V K Verma (retd) told FE over phone.

A source in Air India said the airline could have been under political pressure to hire pilots from IGRUA. Air India did not respond to a detailed questionnaire sent by FE.

Sarah Aviation director Akhileshwar Prasad said that private airlines were hiring entry-level pilots from across the country following several levels of screening. “The best employers in the country are private airlines and they hire from across the country and not just from IGRUA,” Prasad said.

According to an industry estimate, airlines operating short-haul jets like A320s and B737s keep 10 pilots for each aircraft. Air India has a fleet of 135 aircraft out of which nearly 30 are not in operation. It maintains a pilot strength of 1,700.

When asked if private airlines were also hiring good number of trainee pilots from IGRUA, its director VK Verma said the academy did not keep this record. IGRUA has the capacity to train 100 junior pilots annually.

Rahul Gandhi Zindabad!!

So the rumors are true. And now with a CMD from U.P things are probably looking good for the Trainees at IGRUA.

But I hope Rahul baba forgets about this after the U.P elections are over.

Not only are they putting pressure on AI,but also Pvt Airlines..A considerable
no. of guys that Jet Airways Selected in the Aug'10 Recruitment were IGRUAN's..
They were first supposed to have campus recruitment but then the candidates
gave the exam with others..but nonetheless were given preference..

AIR INDIA's FATE

Air India's loss constantly piled up on account of tuning to the politicians desires. In this present Scenario and growing market, Air India needs pilots to sustain the competitive environment as well as maximum utilisation of their fleet. Last financial year Air India topped No.1, in cancellation of flights due to strike, Pilot shortage and etc...etc...Now only remedy for this bleeding airline to utilise the resources available to maximum extent and reduce the losses.
When private carriers are recruiting considering the pilots for immediate requirement and future prospectus, however Air India's strategy of recruitment lacks for immediate requirement, and hence slipping everytime from the golden oppurtunity of creating the revenus. Air India has never learnt from the past and present, what kinda strategy required to survive in this market. When there is no much pilots to fly the aircraft whatelse these CPL holders from IGRUA can do, these pilots can be of help after 1years of their training (Air India's Training) , but for immediate requirement Air India should have taken from the poll of Type-Rated Pilots available in the market to sustain their growth. Further in my opinion for furture requirement they should have taken from the poll of CPL Holders waiting for long rather taking them from IGRUA.
If IGRUA canditates are really talented they should be able to compete with the outside poll of canditates and get their seats. Rahul Gandhi for his political milegae in UP, trying to work some cheap gimmicks like this is going to revert back very badly. This is as good as back door entry.
Air India is a public sector running on tax payers money, 8000 odd pilots who are standing outside without jobs, after spending 30lacs for their license, whether Govt intervene and did anything for them?. When tax payers money is used, the company should be fare enough in their recruitments. What kind of politics going on?.....
Just for the sake of vote bank, UPA is kicking the stomach of 8000 pilots.
for information, till now there was no recruitment drive happened in Air India for SC/ST pilots, and Govt is not keen to take care of these pilots also. All these unfilled reserved category seats are also been accomodated by some other in unfair means. Govt. has no consideration for 600 Odd SC/ST pilots waiting for the job. UP has the maximum SC/ST vote bank, they have to consider this before recruiting from IGRUA.
Air India recuitment policy should be at par with the private carriers strategy, though Indigo came out with CAE scheme for recruiting pilots, they also understood their immediate requirement and they hired Type-Rated pilots to sustain their growth, However Air India is the one which always try something new when it is not required, recently they were planning to hire Ex-IAF pilots, but this is not going to serve the immediate survival purpose, when 800 Odd B737NG Type-Rated Pilots available in the market for jobs and 8000 odd CPL holders can be recruited for future purpose.
Only public sector in India which lacks transperency in recuitment procedures is Air India, every public sector in India goes by merit with transperency as utmost requirement, whether Vigilance and Audit depts. in Air India still there or they are also in hand in these kind of recruitments.

This country need 100's of ANNA HAZARE''s to clean the system prevailing in each and every industry and politics involved.
