Thanks! It was not made in Delhi. But it's payable in Delhi as requested by DGCA. And btw it's a Manager's Cheque, not a Banker's Cheque, unless they mean the same as well. Looks like it'd be best I make a run to the bank. It's D G C A afterall.

Sorry about my previous post regarding nationalised banks DD being accepted by the DGCA only

They seem to accept DD from any scheduled bank in India and this includes HDFC bank

http://www.dgca.nic.in/result/Pilot_0411Inst.pdf

My sincere apologies if I have mentioned nationalised bank to anyone previously

No worries. I figured it could be outside of the list of banks you'd mentioned. And apparently, a manager's check is as good as a DD; well atleast as per the banker it is. Thanks for looking into it.

Submission of the Forms

I figured a neat way of submitting the forms (by accident), There is a post office right behind the CEO building, The peon at the CEO told me to submit my form there. They send the form to CEO the same day so its almost like submission by hand (only they dont check your form at the post office)

DD

hey guys, just a quick question, For the Demand Draft for application for ATPL, is it necessary that it should be from a nationalized bank or it could be from a private one like StanChart or others?

DGCA accepts DD's from any bank. Still i'd suggest you to pick a nationalized bank.
It's the WPC that wants a DD from SBI only.

Question

Fellas..let's turn this thread into an active one..ATPL is round the corner!
I have a few questions..would appreciate people's help

1) An a/c flying at 6000' enters the cone of confusion of a VOR. What is the diameter in nm of the cone. (this has got something to do with sin/tan/cos 40)

2) An a/c is on the airway boundary range 100nm from a VOR marking the airway centerline. Assuming 1 dot equals 2 deg, how many dots deviation will be shown on the CDI

SOLUTIONS

1. Radius Of Cone of Confusion= Aircraft Altitude(In nm) * tan 50

So, its 6000/6080 * tan 50
=1.176 nm
Diameter= 2* Radius
SO, 1.176*2= 2.35nm

Buddy, was not sure of the secod question.

@mike sierra

Q2)Quote: An a/c is on the airway boundary range 100nm from a VOR marking the airway centerline. Assuming 1 dot equals 2 deg, how many dots deviation will be shown on the CDI ?

In Uk. The airways are 5 NM wide both side of the centerline. Applying 1:60 rule

Theta=(s/r)*60

= (5/100)*60

= 3 degree (Hence 1.5 dots)

Is the answer correct?
