Canadian rt and cpl convertion.?

Hello guys, reading the threads for canadian rt and cpl i have got the info but i am little confused with the discussions...

My case is i am in Florida working on my IR and Commercial...Will be done with it in 1-1/2 to 2 months max.
Well i went to india after doing my PPL got thru with 2 of my exams MET and REG and gave the RT attempt.I flunked in RT...Had taken a UK RT with me....Well have many of indian friends here in my school who are going to canada after there CPL to get there CPL converted and to get the RT also.

Seeing the situation in india of the RT exams i am very sure of getting my recency confirmed...So i am also thinking of taking the canadian RT and the CPL converted...Please can anyone guide me how to start with everything because i am just left with 1 n a half more month with my course.....

Thanks alot in advance for help...Will highly appreciate it...

find out the nearest place that issues you a Canadian medical. the file no that is provided during your medical is the first thing you need. it takes a month to process.
look out for a school in Canada from the transportcanada website where you can give the rt and the cpl conversion exam. get in touch with the school authorities they will guide you further.
goodluck!

Canadian RT

I think its a great idea to go get the Canadian RT. It is direct conversion for CDN RT for sure. The CDN exam is very simple and short, if you go to a flying school they will give you the exam right there and apply to Industry Canada for the RT. I got mine in 2 weeks. Worked out fine for me but converting it with Ministry of Com. in Delhi took a very long time.

Good Luck

Canadian Rt

You can go to Brampton flying school they will issue u Invitation letter(Free) & exam Fee(RT) just $20 from School & den you have to go for Transport Canada CPL conversion exam which is again easy but not as RT..So go ahead & just get Canadian CPL & RT it's easy & simple..You will get Indian Rt for almost 5 years(validity of CPL).Great option..

even if you get the Canadian rt you will still have to take part 1 WPC exam. This is because you are doing your initial CPL training from US.

Nope. Not if you convert to both the Canadian CPL + RT. It's a direct conversion to the Indian RTR(P) then.

I'll get my medical done here before going to canada and get the file number....

So i go to canada and clear both of my papers(CPL and RT BOTH)..Get my Canadian CPL and RT....Now when i go back to india and submit the papers to WPC will i be issued a RTR(P) or RTR(C)....And till how long will it be valid???

@Sweptair-Both the exams ie:the RT and the CPL conversion will be held at school or do i have to go somewhere and give the exam..??

@flylikeaBE76-What's the diff. b/w RTR(P) and RTR(C)...How much time will my RTR(P) be Valid for????

@hifi-Wre did u do ur training from??What's the process after going back to india,do we just submit the papers to WPC and rest they do it???
Thanks..!

RTR (P) will be valid only for 5 years as they give it on the basis of canadian CPL which is nowadays issued only for 5 years. so every 5 years you need to renew CPL and hence the RT as well.
RTR (c) is only if you get canadian RT and give part I in india
RTR (A) if you give both part 1 & 2 in india. No conversion business here.

RT exam is held in any designated school. For CPL you will have to visit TC office as they will look at your FAA documents. But if you plan you get give both on same day.

Once you get your canadian RT and CPL just submit with form AF-I to WPC. It will take anywhere from 3 weeks to months before you get your RTR-P.

Cad RT test fee

Someone above mentioned that the Canadian RT test fee is around $20. Just wanted to let y'all know it's around Cad $280-290 including taxes etc. I forget the correct amount, but it's definitely not 20 bucks.

canadian cpl exams are okay , not that bad , get yourself a copy of From The Ground Up and that should be good enough . Although you might need a class or two in chart navigation if you are not very good with it , also you need a copy of CAR's for canada which is important for regulations . Met is easy with good no. of questions on frontal systems .

That is the most i remember , i am not sure about conversion from US to TC CPL requires a flight check or not , in case it does you need to practice some spins too .

All the best !

The cpl conversion test costs $35 and like previously mentioned needs to be taken at a TC Office. I did the RT at Brampton flying school. You can always email or call them and find out what they charge but for me it came out to in the $280s canadian. Good luck!

Btw no flight check needed for FAA to TC cpl conversion.

@Arrow...
you need to look at the CARs for CPL conversion as mentioned in the conversion study guide

Recommended Study Material for the FAA Conversion Examination - Transport Canada

I read from CAR and TC AIM. Also give free sample test on FREE Online PSTAR Practice Exams

For RT you can get the study guide from
