Working for Spicejet. Dash 8.

Hello there. i am looking for someone to PM me about SpiceJet. they are recruiting type rated captains for the Dash 8 Q400 on order. Anyone on here, in the pipeline to start with them in July/August. Would be interested to see how they have navigated their way through the various stages and requirements of the DGCA.
Also will be good to build up contacts so we can share good information around.

thank you

Tom.

No Fool

Hi GoFlyIndia. you seemed to be a little upset. What do you know of India. From your 3 post on here I don't see any evidence of you having experience there. Despite the fact that you call yourself goflyindia?
Yes I have read 'incredible india - or not' i have also read lots of other stuff.
you have to make your own judgement. Please PM me if you have anything concrete to add or wish to share your experience. At least it would be constructive.

I spent three years at Spicejet. The reality is that the experience in India is what you make of it. I enjoyed my time there. I missed my family and that is the biggest reason I am no longer there. They paid me what they owed me. I had a the schedule flexibility that I could get hardly anywhere else. Were there issues? You bet. The roster was a moving target that could change three or four times in a day. The bureaucracy and corruption in the system is both very disheartening and pervasive. The Indian written test and physical can be a challenge. If you come and try to get along, pick your battles and try to fit in you will do fine.

No airline or country are perfect. If you are ready to adjust with few things like roster,SpiceJet is fine. They pay you on time and lots of good people working at Spice.
Your base for Q400 would be south India.....HYD or BLR probably.
can be frustrating waiting to sort out paperwork like permit,FATA etc but its not that bad once you start flying.

Having said that, there are and will be issues but none that one cant sort out.

Thanks

Thanks guys. You have to go expecting some difficulties. My main concern is that they pay what was agreed and on time. After that I will work through the rest.

Security Clearance

I am waiting on my security clearance from the DGCA. They quote 4 - 6 weeks. But I have been waiting 8 weeks and there is no way to find out how much longer it will take. I was politely told when I enquired, that I should be patient. If I tried to push it through, it might be rejected without reason. To anyone applying for a job in India should be aware that it does take a long time to get through the process. You need the security clearance before you can apply for a work visa. I suggest you don't hand in your notice to your current employer until you have your security clearance issued. Good luck.

As Gotofly mentioned righlty, pay comes right on time. Rostering is bit of problem but will that be same for Q400s, that remained to be seen. And you can wait patiently for your clearance as Dash 8 ops has been delayed for another month or so.

@pilottom10 have you tired talking to SG? Maybe they delayed the deliveries and that is why you have not got your clearances yet.

Does anyone know if the aircraft have been delivered to SG? They were supposed to star Q400 operations some time in august.

What is SpiceJet paying for Q400 captains?

ANA Wings has a good Q400 contract. You should look into that.
