@ flyinghigh89

This is only by chance.
But the bottom line is I am not giving this exam due to the payment of Rs 20,000 attached to it,

because Sandy said so................

@flyinghigh89

I know many people who did well in their training are sitting without jobs for nearly 3 years and I also know many who failed their exams and now flying on a big jet, I been sitting nearly for 2 and a half year its really frustrating now I am really feeling sorry for myself and I wished I never took this path, if I took any degree in engineering or some BSc at least I would have been working in a company, they wont pay me a pilot salary but at least I wold have been living with some dignity and earn some respect. Now I am just sitting doing nothing, even I feel ashamed to come on the internet and look for job cause its my parents who are paying the internet. I already started doing a degree thru correspondence, just finished 1st years. I will give myself another 2 years if I dont make it as a pilot I am going the other way, my CPL would be worthless.

My advise for anyone wanting to be a pilot in india its to DONT DO IT!!!! If you have the money and still want to be a pilot then DO A DEGREE FIRST, and have a back up plan..Dont make the mistake that me and many others did, you will regret it, this is not 2006 where a CPL holder will get job ASAP and company will provide you training. This is 2011 you spend 25 Lacs, and even you get a job you still need to spend more 15 lac...if you are a millioner then no problem go ahead, if you are middle class then forget it. Dont hurt your parents anymore, there are more ways to make your self stand out from others and make your parents proud other than becoming a pilot. This job is now only for the ones with Money and contacts, its not anymore for the ones who work hard and want to make it the right way...

As you can see Spicjet is asking for 20 000 just for the exams...How much that Question paper would cost to priint? 200 or max 900 rupees? you dont want to waste 20 000 for something that have a minimal chance of getting and for a job that is already deserved for the rich and and those who does politics...My friends spent that 20 000 for nothing, now they are regretting, they also studied hard for the exams but....nothing in the end..I didnt spend because I dotn want to waste the money....I attended jet airways which was free but I didnt make it....I understand that life but you can plan your life well dont make the mistake buddies....

Anyways all the best for who made it.....

@vdaff: Well said, you have pretty much summed up my sentiments for the last 2-3 years.

This is starting to become an absolute shambolic joke of an industry to get into. First comes Indigo with their 20k requirements to write their written when it is evident that most of their recruitment is done under the table. Now it is Spicejet, with their bloody "Dear Captain..." call letters (which ticks me off to no end) and alternate written dates/exams for the "jugad" candidates, not to mention another 20k demand draft.

I am seriously considering just abandoning the whole thing and cutting my losses. Granted, they are astronomic for the run of the mill family, but there comes a point when you just realize that life has to go on. I am sick and tired of sitting at home waiting for "miracle openings", and grinding my nose on textbooks for an exam, when I have that inkling in the back of my mind that it is rigged, or partially rigged.

@ Fibreglass

Rightly said.
We all are sailing in the same boat.
Honestly I am too from a middle class family.
But I am MBA too along and we have a business also running along.

But still I find it worthless spending money on such interviews.
I have written a reply to spicejet HR also, which reads ........

Hi Mahantesh,

I am very obliged to be a part of Spicejet airlines.

I am interested in joining Spicejet as trainee pilot but I think the fee for exam is not reasonable.

I would request you to please wave off the fee for the exam and I will be happy to come for the interview.
You see I am unemployed and can’t afford to spend money on exams like this.

I appreciate your interest in having me as a part of your airline family.

Thanks & Regards

Well this is what I am and proud to be so.
Choice is yours. People will do this to you if you let them do, we are educated people and this is not what education teaches us.

Good luck for you future.

Happy landings.....

Why doesn't someone report to DGCA !!!!

The reason now Indigo exam is free of cost is bcos of the rule made by DGCA... (i know later u have to pay the money anyway)

But still... According to this rule... all airline companies have to give first 2 attempts to a candidate free of cost... After the 2 attempts they can charge the candidate a reasonable amount of money to appear in the selection process !!

I hope a little more search... and A visit to DGCA will clear all doubts !!!

If the rule holds for Indigo then it should be applicable to Spice Jet too..
In that case we should fire some emails to DGCA right away..

Its time we reject these bloody paid tests!

They are doing no favour to us by hiring, they need us!

Will anyone except Sandy Pilot be willing to boycott this exam? I hope everyone does, only then will the airlines get the message that we may be despaerate but will not allow ourselves to be exploited.

I dont know what their T&Cs are but do they make you sign a bond after you sponser your own TR?

I dont understand how the whole jugaad system works. I mean its detrimental to the airlines growth. For a short term benefit they are willing to jeopardise long term safety and profit. Dont they want good 'Indian' pilots to take over the command of their planes asap who they have to pay significatly less than the expats (i know we need expats more than they need us right now, but thats a different debate)?

And I bet that most of the pilots who are currently flying with them will fail the writtens companies like indigo subject us fresh CPL holders to.

I sincerely apeal to all of you to boycott any exam that asks you to pay for taking it. How cheap.

(the only legitimate reason that i can think of is to keep non serious candidates away but i highly doubt that)

I will not pay 20,000 rupees to an airline whose bosses are stuck in a biggest ever scam. And why pay 20,000 for a written exam and a panel interview.

Boycott this Big Time

I have asked that question to every management dude I come across and don't really get a straight answer as to why we charge 20k for a poorly organised farce. They know it's unjustified and excessive but no one is willing to admit it. I am fighting this from within but it is a scam with inconsistencies galore. And please fell free to call PM the 'assistant manager' WHENEVER you feel like. Give him a hello from my side as well
And boycott this at you own peril. There are plenty of morons who will part with their money ever so willingly. For those putting up a stand, good on you but it is a losing battle.
Personally, I would recommend you avoid this place like the plague, but beggars can't be choosers. Don't say you weren't warned.

Good luck to all.
