Aviation in Mongolia
Hey fellow aviators,
Is there anybody on this forum who has any information about aviation in Mongolia?
I'm going to be over there in a few months and I would like to try my luck..
Are there any companies hiring there at this time?
What licences do they accept?
T&C's?
Pay?
Any info would be welcome, as I haven't found any yet.
Thnx!

Ulaanbataar
In MIAT, Mongolian Airlines, you find only two B737-800 as far as I know and some smaller Turboprops. Jobīs are rare and the pay for a Mongolian is high when you talk 500 US $ per month in the country.
The Airport ULN is Landing on 14 only and Take off on 32 only due to the Mountian at the end of the 10.000 foot slope RWY. It depends on the day and density there is a high G/A Altitude as the field evelevation is 4.300ft.
I am not sure if you find the needle in the haystack but good luck with the search.

Pay, Going to guess not much.
There are two operators both with C208 on the JU Reg so I assume a Mongolian ticket needed.
One is geo survey, other is charter.
Blue Sky Aviation and the survey one I cant recall.
Other than that I think its only choppers.
MIAT fly 737s on the Irish reg and jsut got a 76 on the JU reg.

Yes I would like to try for MIAT.
Which is the JU reg?
I'm not too worried about pay for now. I'm just looking to land my first job.
I was hoping, if I need to bring a type rating, to get it on my FAA license instead of JAA. Since FAA type ratings are much cheaper if I'm not mistaken?

JU = Mongolia.
"I was hoping, if I need to bring a type rating, to get it on my FAA license instead of JAA."
Well if you will be flying an Irish A/C (73) I suggest JAA is likely to be the answer.
Here's a thought.... Ask the airline....

Eznis Airways, a SAAB 340 operator were advertising for drivers back in October this year. Might be worth a look.

Wow....the lovely land of Mongolia..
Besides Eznis now flying also Bae146/ARJ's and above mentioned Saabs, you also have AeroMongolia flying Fk50 and a pair of F100(currently stored)
Also MIAT has now started a new regional division named Mongolian Airlines, with some fresh Fk50, and to those with 767 TR, may take a chance, they just received a second one
Have fun and enjoy the empire of mighty Ghengis Khan
