China Medical

Can any Expats in China give an opinion on obtaining a medical in China. I interviewed at Jade Cargo in Shenzhen and did not pass the medical in 2007. Jade is within the Guanzhou regional district for CAAC medicals. If I apply for a job in Shanghai at another Cargo operator will the Shanghai regional office know about the failure in Guanzhou? The medical condition I originally failed for is now fixed and not a problem. I just want to know if I would be inhibited from applying for a job in another region of the CAAC? Do the regional CAAC medical departments share information? I have heard they are all run autonomously but have a national standard. Thanks in advance.

I know of Chinese pilots that have failed their medical for some reason and have regained it after surgery. On one of my medicals I had some problem with my blood pressure so they just told my company doctor to put me on Adalat. This controlled it and there was no further remarks.

Hi WP,

I am not sure if your situation will prevent you from taking the examination again, but one thing I remember very well is that when you fill the application form to obtain the medical certificate, there is a question about wheter or not you have previously failed the examination and explain why if that's the case.
You can give it a shot and see what's happen.

Best of luck for you

Hi WP, if you have confidence and had a medical exam by yourself, you can try to do medical check again unless your condition is still breach CAAC medical requirement. And it is better to tell what happened to new employer before you go for further to save both time.

Medical or written first?

Hello all - just a couple quick questions.

Are you required to do one before the other? Are there set dates for the written exams or do they give them as needed?

Just trying to get a better grasp of the expected timeframes and overall process for planning purposes - cheers!

medical

I did the medical as part of the selection, then the exams were when the CAAC had an exam slot after accepting the Job. Not sure if every company is the same....

Bile Sludge

I had a time getting my India medical becouse they found Bile Sludge in my gull bladder and since it was not a stone sergery was out. This held my medical up for months. Does this condition cause the same problem in China? What is the down time after gal bladder removal before they let you fly again? I dont know if it would be better to have the sergery before my medical in china just in case. any help?

Above 60 days, the report from your doctor is needed.
