What Visa required for British pilot flying into India?

I've been advised that I need to sort out an Indian Visa on my British passport and was unsure what Visa is deemed sufficient. I'll be flying a G-Reg aircraft and I guess staying for up to a week each time.

Will the tourist Visa suffice or is a business visa required?

Also it seems google throws up many Visa application companies/agencies - is this the normal way for a British person to obtain a visa, I would have thought there would be more official channels such as a department of the Indian Embassy.

Many thanks.

If you plan on entering and exiting as a crewmember, then none should be required. Just your crew ID and the GenDec.

But a previous employer made everone get "B" type tourist visas so we could enter or exit via commercial aircraft as passengers, if needed.
