passed Indian DGCA air nav,air met & air regs and now STUCK...plz help!!

hi guys I completed my ppl+inst rating from USA and came back to India..I passed the required indian DGCA papers(atleast thts what i thought so)..I was told tht if you dont have a FAA Cpl then you have to apply under CPL-G category and give three papers i.e.,air nav,air met & air regs..and then get ur FAA CPL and submit the documents in order to get a Indian Cpl...Fortunately I managed to pass all of them. and was just waiting to get through my RT exams..But now all of sudden people are telling me tht Dgca has changed rules and wont follow the Above mentioned procedure...And now they will let only the cpl holders sit for the exams n I Might have to give the composite paper after my cpl..i tried talking to dgca people but of no help(not getting a proper answer).PLz help me out guys..Is this thing true.??Or will I be allowed to do it the old way as I have already cleared my Exams...Your help would be really appreciated...

Congratulations on clearing your dgca papers.

I think you were misinformed on the conversion process.

In order to get an indian cpl you from your FAA license you will need to have a FAA Cpl first. What you have right now is just a PPL with an instrument rating on it. With this you can convert into an Indian PPL and not an indian Cpl.

So go ahead and get your FAA Cpl first and then apply for conversion. And don't worry you will NOT have to give the exams again.

This is confusing. I was under the impression that the best way to get an INdian CPL is the same:

Do your FAA PPL + Instrument
Give your DGCA papers here
Go back and get your FAA CPL + Multi
Submit documents for conversion.

Mostly because you get the recency this way and also the X-C legs they demand. I think Jimmy Gill had a pretty good post on this.


So what is the DGCA telling you - that you have to resit the papers after getting your FAA CPL or that the above process is not valid?
