Expats for Jet Airways
Hello All
Currently operating as an F/O on the A320 in Europe, have approx 2500hrs and would be interested in Jet Airways. They're currently looking for expat Captain's for the 737 and A330.
Is there any chance in the near future they will start recruiting expat F/Os?

As mentioned earlier there are thousands of cpl holders sitting for a job, so expat as a F/O is close to impossible... However, as you said you are flying A320, there are airlines like IndiGo, Goair who have A320 and are in need of captains so a command with some experience stands a good chance here even for expats as the the deadline to remove all expats have extended to another 5 years.. So a guy with command experience stands a very good chance as there ARE vacancies,...

The problem with India and expats is really simple (a) the airlines are in desperate need of experienced captains.--but (b) there are 1.2 billion people and some can`t even read much less understand, that "qualified" means thousands of total hours and maybe 1000 on type, the fact that the news media causes further problems by printing nonsense about 4000 indians with a pilots licience but no job,(they neglect to mention that these pilots have NO experience) is not lost on the DGCA who adds to the flame by taking FOREVER to dispense ALTP`s, and adding stumbling blocks to the expat pilots, so that he will appear to be doing something about it.-i was there for 4 years and each year it became harder to obtain a visa (employment) and work permit.

And by the time Roy gets the qualifcation, requirements for expats will be.
i) Minimum flying experience - 4000Hrs
ii) Minimum PIC experience - 2000Hrs
iii) Minimum PIC on Type/variant - 500Hrs with current IR/LR check
iv) Minimum glass-cockpit experience - 1000Hrs
v) Recent experience - at least three takes-off and landings within the preceding 90 days on the type of aircraft applied for, or in a flight simulator approved for the purpose.

"qualified" in India means ATPL, 500 hrs on type as f/o and satisfying the company operation manual's requirement, which may mean 1500 hours total to 3500 hrs total depending on the company...
And DGCA takes 30 days to issue ATPL if you have met all the requirements.
Yes it goes like easy, manageable, hard, harder, hardest to impossible. Likely to be impossible after July 2011.
Despite the so called dearth of pilots, airliners have been flying, and more and more local F/Os are getting closer to qualifications required for the command.
