Air Macau Screening Process
Ppruners,
I have used the search function and have come up with some limited information.
However, I hear that there's an Air Macau screening process coming up and was wondering what's involved ? and for those that have completed it - What was it like ?
I believe there are a number of tests such as a written, oral test and personal interview and then a sim at Oxford aviation in HK the next day.
I'm just trying to grab some further information such as to see what can be expected. Finally what's the pay like for an newbie FO ? Survivable ?
Many thanks in advance

What hours are they looking for ? Do they take 250 hr CPLs ?
Do they require line hours on the A320 ? I see you've just done an intial TR at Ansett Melb.

2 day assessment (3 if your lucky)
Day One - AMU Head Office in Macau
Meet other 4 applicants (5 in total for the day) Fill out numerous application forms and work history.
Followed by a 24 question A320 systems written test, then a 30 question Aviation General knowledge test.
Break for lunch
Then a 40 minute interview with three people. One from HR, A line Captain and the Chief Pilots Secretary. You will have 5 technical aviation questions to answer and also convince them why you want to join and what you know and also why you won't go to Cathay if they offer you a position after you have built up experience with AMU amongst others.
Salary info is different for every applicant depending on previous experience.

You will be paid 275 MOP (34 USD) per day when you start, this is to cover incidentals such as food etc. but accommodation is provided during training and that's it till you become a fully fledged checked to line pilot. Training could last for 2 - 6 months depending on you and available resources.....Beware!
Also a training bond of $30,000 USD is paid by you over a 3 - 4 year period or a duration of your choice to the company.
Once finished you must travel to Hong Kong by Ferry and by train to stay in a hotel ready for the sim session next day. (Novotel Citigate )
Day 2
A320 sim at Oxford Aviation - Two current line/training Captains will be there. One to fly left seat and the other to operate the sim.
Sim session Brief - Whole session will be hand flown - No autopilot, but obviously auto-thrust is available

Good luck

Questions for AMU General Knowledge test.
To all AMU hopefuls.
To be honest and short, I did not take the job.
From what I can remember, it really was very general such as weather and types of icing. Holding & other speeds etc.
Look back at your ATPL notes, look at Jeppessen - terminal or post a general question in the correct forum for recent interviewees.
I have had many people message me regarding this assessment who were successful and said my post was spot on.
Apologies as I can't be more helpful.
Best of luck - Please no more emails regarding this - Thanks

Expect to fly around 90 hours per month
Expect about $5500 in your bank each month
If you can't come up with the 50K deposit the pay is much worse...
Screening process consists of several exams taken from the ATP syllabuses
One on one interview questions such as what would you do etc...
Sim profile is prep cockpit, looking for quick accurate procedures, some of the guys in my batch were a bit ummm, errr etc and did not make it.
Taxi out a few issues come up, then take off, engine failure, come back single engine raw data no auto throttle VOR app, single engine go around, come back for a single engine ILS circle to land. Couple of fires and GEN buses go.
Some other basics like level turns, TCAS RA's etc, TRE enjoys seeing you mess up so be aware they are deliberately trying to catch you out, but if you do a good enough job you will pass without any problems, just hope that. Your sim partner is up to speed....
