Word of warning :
anyone applying for DEC, when given an interview date, confirm what position it is for before you go waisting money on tickets, there are a few dishonest people in that organisation

Singapore is very expensive to live. Jet* It is not called ScabStar for nothing. Not referring to the crews flight standards though.

What is the minimum requirement to apply as a F/O with Jetstar Asia? Is a A320 Type rating a must have?

"Singapore is very expensive to live. Jet* It is not called ScabStar for nothing. Not referring to the crews flight standards though."

Ejector----

Perhaps you could elaborate on your definition of "expensive"?
There are so many facets that this could have specific meaning to.

Cab rides are cheaper than Australia and Japan.
Food is cheaper than Australia and much much more variety.
Housing rental is competitive, if not cheaper than 1st world countries.
Public transport is 1st world.
Crime rate is low.
Street safety - very safe. ( You won't get mugged)
Its summer all year round.

Buying a car is very expensive as the Government tries to curb private transportation, and mostly unnecessary as public transport is 1st rate.

But of course, comparing Singapore with the rest of the region, (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand,Philippines) well of course Singapore is costly as the other countries are developing economies and infrastructure, and currency exchange --- well you get the picture.

Well to live like a rock star you will not, but a comfy lifestyle on $8-10k (F/O pay) with or without baggage is not unheard of. Condo living, taxi rides, regular restaurant visits, clubbing, girlfriend(s)....

Just dont complain when you rent a $7k penthouse per month on a $9k pay packet and wonder where all the $$$ has gone to...

They need to be, you wont be able to afford a car on FOs wages.

on $8-10k (F/O pay)
10K is a bit of a stretch, and since it is hours based, you can't depend on it, it would be foolish to predicate a move to SIN based on the absolute maximum pay. BTW, Singapore is not tax free so dont forget to put away 800-1000/month.

Food is cheaper than Australia and much much more variety
Well, no it's not, maybe a few select things are. Much more variety if you are into Asian food otherwise significantly less.

Housing rental is competitive, if not cheaper than 1st world countries
A small flat in a hi-rise for 3-3500SIN a month or a 3-4 bedroom house in Brisbane for 2-2500 ( 2300-2900SIN ) month ( in a nice suburb, 15 mins from city ), where do you get your info ?

Public transport is 1st world.
Crime rate is low.
Street safety - very safe. ( You won't get mugged)
Its summer all year round.
All true, and good if you like continuous hot/humid weather ( personal preference )

any fo going for this be very wary of interview
all done at your own expense
any fo with less than 1500 hours not offered flight pay
only basic salary per month for a minimum of 3 sim checks which is a year maybe longer depending on requirements
wasnt offered job but wouldnt of accepted terms anyway

Well for the most part, the average Singaporean's income is between
$2K-5K. So for an FO pay of $8K, isn't it a little high up the food chain? Mind you, public transport pricing is designed around the layman, not the high income earners.

Well the FO pay for Jet* is $6-8K.... Tiger FO pay is $8-10K.... Thats because Tiger does not offer perks like year end bonuses, apart from the compulsory 13th month Annual Wage Supplement. Clear enough for you buddy?

Well obviously you have not been to Singapore have you? Singapore is a multi-racial society, mainly made up of Chinese, Malay and Indian inhabitants, and not to mention foreigners from all over the globe, who call Singapore home. The spice of Singapore....

Are we comparing Hong Kong with Brisbane? Hey, once again, I think you are picking numbers from your whizwheel my friend. The average CONDOMINIUM monthly rental is above $2500, comes with security, with all the facilities attached, with chicks in da pool. 15mins from the city? going at 200km/h on the freeway? you must be kidding mate.

Nothing that you have posted is helping this thread.
There are those of us who are willing to fulfill the dream of securing a seat in a modern jet. Do not discourage them with your baseless views of a first rate city like Singapore, which reward those contributing to the economy, a bigger bite of the best that Singapore will offer.

PM me if you need modern updated info on Singapore.

Eat your greens.

Grow up.

Singapore is a VERY expensive city to live in. On the whole HKF is quite correct. If you are single you will get by on FO pay. If you have a family you will be in to your savings. Reasonable housing and two in middle school will set you back the best part of S$100,000pa. These figures are three years old though.

Boocs, no mate, cannot afford a 60% pay cut at the moment

Rotate, you pillock, what is not helpful is lying to prospective expats about conditions, I've had it done to me and it's not nice to pick up your family and move 1/2 way across the world for a bunch of crap
Expats have a habit of converting the currency they are going to earn into their currency ( in this case AUD ) and then finding out that the cost of living where they are headed ( in this case SIN ) is significantly higher.

Well the FO pay for Jet* is $6-8K.... Tiger FO pay is $8-10K.... Thats because Tiger does not offer perks like year end bonuses, apart from the compulsory 13th month Annual Wage Supplement. Clear enough for you buddy?

Are you retarded ? I said that 10K was a stretch for a Crapstar F/O ( if you scroll up you will see that is what you posted ) and you have just confirmed that it most definitely is a stretch and BTW there are no " perks " in Jet*.
PS I am not your " buddy "

Crap, the average Condo that an expat rents is 3-3500K, at least the ones I know who live there. You can get an apartment for 1500, that doesnt mean its average. I lived in Ascot, BNE ( google it as you obviously know 5hit about Australia ) $600/week 3 bedroom house with garden, 10-15 min drive to city or 10 min walk to the ferry then 15 min on ferry.

Nothing that you have posted is helping this thread.

Yep, pilots are their own worst enemy, they will do anything to get in that shiny jet. My baseless views seem to be supported by most here. If you like Singapore, thats great, just don't lie about the conditions/cost of living, what are you anyway ? Jet* recruitment ? What does it matter to you if expats come to SIN ?

Eat your greens.

Grow up

You dont need a car in Singapore either unless you want to doubletime it to for example KL for some reason or something like that.

Mogas, since you're asking about the need for a TR, I presume you are aware of their Advanced Cadet Program ?

Yes, I'm aware of it. However, am I able to go direct entry FO (TR self-sponsored) instead of the cadet program? I have an ATPL and a multi-crew turboprop TR and this program seems to be an awful long time for an ATPL holder.

Is this cadet program only open to Australians/Singaporeans or everyone? Many thx.
