Yes, Air Asia is hiring.
Direct Entry Capts - Malaysian or foreign nationals.
F/Os - for Malaysians only.

Try to send your application directly to the recruitment officer for pilots:
"Suriani bt. Yusof" <[email protected]>

Pay scale:
Capt = $8300+ per month (net pay - computed at less the tax & provident fund contribution & flying at 85 hours a month)
per diem: YES

trip benefits:
  • unlimited ID for you & family (Air Asia & Air Asia-X)
  • 6 confirmed tickets (can be transferred to any one, including friends) in Air Asia Network
  • 6 confirmed ID90 on Air Asia X for you & family
other allowances: nil

Annual leave: 28 days - bidding basis

I hope this helps.

starskate if you care enough to read this thread thoroughly you would find Virtual Reality's post which is quite accurate to describe life in AirAsia (I would say 90%).

Maybe you are used to doing nothing in your outfit but in AirAsia pilots work as a team. So if you're the lazy diva type of Captain, leave everything to the FO to do, don't bother applying ok. The sim check team will not have any problems seeing this trait in you and fail you. Just an honest heads up.

I'm getting tired getting complaints from FOs that the new Captains are lazy and are more interested in the girls or the old timers from the 747 fleet next door know nothing. Come on. They are paid 1/3 less and have to do 3 times more work. Help them out and make the cockpit and the overall working environment better for everyone.

Hi starskate,

Really? Did you read the 6th post of this thread by VR? That's quite an accurate picture of life here except that the petrol prices have gone up 5 cents last week.

Well we all have been a low paid FO at one time of our life. If you are looking to this side of the world I suggest you prepare well. The people in charge of recruiting are very strict and the failure rate is high because AirAsia has a lot of good FOs ready for command and most with 2-3 years wide body experience. They will only take in the best candidates. Good luck.

The interview process is a bit of a joke. They think they know what they are doing...but I can tell you they don't. Its a cheap process thats not balanced, and judgment in my opinion is left to people who should not be in the position to make it. Its a roll of the dice.. Just go and give it a go. If you get it you will probably enjoy it for a time. But basically it all comes down to if you have a good day or not. Of course you will have to pass the knowlege req's..but thats a given. Just prep as much as you can, and try to get some sleep the night before. Good luck. PS. I wouldn't count on commuting at this company. its a LCC after all. Your gonna work you ass off. Your closer to the bottom of the barrel than the top.

Air Asia

the recruitment takes in mainly expats for DEC Europe so the jokers must be employing mainly sub standard JAR licence holders .

sim seats based on personal choice

commanders can be left seat or right seat
capts sit only on left fo sits on right

malaysia bloody good place to live ie KL

have u been to air hong kong emirates cathay interview ?
british aussie NZ passports highly preffered

air asia captain pay scale?

hi everyone,

i read some of these posts and just to clarify for me the following.
Captain pay on A320 is basically $4000/ months plus the 195/hr of flying?
Total of approximately $8900/month minus taxes.

Is this correct?
How about vacation? how much a year? Is the roster so that you can commute in from Australia?

Thanks in advance

New exodus

Soon there will be a new exodus of national airline pilots joining the Asian Express....the 'pull' factor is just too great to resist for them I guess.
