Air Asia has been trying to file it as an alternate, they will not get an approval since this is a defense airport
only Indian airlines fly into Port Blair..all kinds of a/c operate 320,737,ATR.. no wide bodies...

Why would Air Asia use Port Blair as an alternate?? That makes no sense... an airport in the middle of the ocean, one runway limited services .... come on what are you smoking...your not a real pilot I gather.

At last check, Chennai/Madras was the only point of departure for Kingfisher's Port Blair flight. I know an old American gent who used to love doing that route when he was working there on an A320 expat contract. Expect delays getting there, though - the airport's remoteness, weather, runway layout and meager instrument approaches conspire to cause a LOT of mid-air turnarounds.

Do somebody has a copy of the Port Blair Let Down Charts? Just in case I have to divert there in an Emergency that won't allow me to continue to any other airport.

Well, about a decade ago all we had in portblair was an NDB letdown.Although later on a VOR was commissioned there,it never materialised into an approach procedure due a whole lotta complications involved.Such as terrain,uni-directional rwy etc etc to name a few! The runway in those days was about 5,400 ft long and was unidirectional due terrain. Winds experienced by me personally on take off have touched the 25 kts tail wind component mark. But those were the days of real flying! Iccidentally I was one of the first few fliers to take a 'jet airplane' into that airfield.Way back in the 80's.We used to do the Chennai-Portblair-Car nicobar run on the 732's in those days.Quite a huffer I might add. Until that time the 732 was the largest airplane to land(just about!)into PPB.Rwy was still only 5,400'. I believe now it has been extended a whole lot and also comprises an ILS procedure.
Well....we still use. Just to avoid CB buildup's!! Can't use it even for an enroute alternate nowadays. What with the size of the airplanes we fly...
