British National obtaining Indian CPL

Can a British National obtain an Indian CPL (H)? Currently flying with a JAA CPL (H) on FATA in India - love the country and want to stay! Been informed verbally from DGCA that it would not be a problem but would appreciate comments from those that know.

Obviously subject to flying requirements and passing air regs + composite papers.

Regards
