Koreans think they need less expats

Korean Air pilots demonstrated in front of their Flight Ops headquarters the other day to protest, amongst other things, that there are too many foreign pilots. Approximately 400 unionised pilots from a predominantly civilian background are up in arms about a few issues, one of which is the number of expats they say is in contravention of their 'agreement'.

Curiously an expat who 'advises' the Koreans also informed his expat charges that the demonstration was to protest the move of the airport briefing room to a very remote and thus time consuming location. He encouraged expats to support the demonstration by showing up!!!

Could have been interesting….

This scenario is all too common.

May i suggest something.

Have the local pilots agree to put their most junior local captain and junior F/O on a full sim session with another independant airline.

These are the guys that will replace the expats................

OOOhhhaaaa......

Very, very bitchy comment there mainwheel!

Not saying you're wrong by any means though!

Would be an interesting exercise - an unedited tape would be a fantastic learning tool for all involved.

I mean that in the nicest way.

cheers
