There are only 3 of us, and we all have apartments in the city. FWIW Capitol has plans to move operations to the north part of GZ, in the old airport. But, TIC (This Is China). That was supposed to have happened last year. It might happen this year, next, or never. Right now almost all the local crews live in Huadu, close to the airport. They probably don't want to drive to GZ every day, only to be driven back to the airport by van. No one has any idea what is really going to happen. TIC.
If you are working for brand X down in Shenzhen, you might want to contact Capitol about coming here, as well as a contract agency (I strongly recommend PARC). Capitol might help facilitate your license transfer. They seem to have connections..............
Tell them I sent you, we get a bonus for recruiting other expats! I can put you in contact with the staff that recruits expats.

As far as crashpads, None required. The company provides a hotel room before and after a trip. Local crews and expats. The hotel is the origination point for the crew bus. You can park your car at the hotel for free.

Rent is very cheap with lots of apartments and villas at 1/3 the cost of Guangzhou. No nightlife to speak of unless you are Chinese. No english spoken anywhere, which includes medical facilities. While it is geographically close to the airport, the drive is 4 times longer than it should be. It only takes me 5-10 minutes longer to get to work from GZ than it does from the Huadu crew hotel.
3 of us have each looked at it independently, and each of us chose to live in GZ. Your opinion may differ.

At least 3 guys are based in Beijing. Probably more now. I think Beijing is where they are expanding the most right now. 6 or 7 are now based in Sanya. No expats that i know of are based in Xian yet, but it is an option. Could become necessary at some point.

PROBEUSMC thanks for the info on Huadu.
What has been your average flight hours per month so far at BCA?I know some of these carriers will work you till you drop.
Also, how many days do you generally get off a week?

ill definitely defer to JotaJota's scheduling answer as I have only been online for <2 months. CAN to Thailand is easy. I go there a lot. Thai Airways and China Southern are both Star Alliance (orbitz.com). You can fly to Bangkok and get a good connection (usually under 2 hours) to anywhere in Thailand. The company reimburses 10k per year in travel expenses. The company travel, including Hainan Airlines, is not very useful for the pilots I know. You can jumpseat unlimited on Hainan and Capitol, but again it is only domestic and not a lot of frequency.
Depending on where you want to go, you can also take a bus to the HK airport. More flights at half the price of GZ.
