Cebu Pacific 5J 142 Manila to Hong Kong 1st Aug 2008

Hi

This flight returned to Manila stating 'technical difficulties' when it was 20 mins or so from Hong Kong. People on board said the engines sounded funny.

Anyone know what happened? Why would it return to Manila when so close to HK?

Thanks
jtt

Maybe because the Pilot forgot to bring his ATPL license.

Besides, it's cheaper to fly back to Manila and repair the fault rather than pay for the repair work in Hongkong. It's all about costs.

Understood, but quite annoying for all the passengers and all the people who went to the airport to wait to pick them up.
