Hi
Just have a question to anyone who may know about the 500 hr flight time requirement for Cebpacs ATR....
Does the flight time include hours flown in a cessna 150 or cessna's for that matter? for example hours that you gained during your training as a student pilot all the way through CPL/IR/ME ratings?
Would being a CFI on a cessna be enough to apply as an FO for the atr?
Or do the hours have to be earned elsewhere? Such as flying for charter companies?
Appreciate any feedbacks.
Thanks and Godbless!

Good day to you, allow me to just help get the ball rolling here;
Does the flight time include hours flown in a cessna 150 or cessna's for that matter? for example hours that you gained during your training as a student pilot all the way through CPL/IR/ME ratings?
500 hours is grand total (minimum) on your experience. This is not type specific (for obvious reasons).
Would being a CFI on a cessna be enough to apply as an FO for the atr?
Having a CFI credential does help. Again not type specific. Although having the experience in complex aircraft, flying environment, more advanced avionics, multi time, night flying, actual IFR exposure, ...etc etc etc would determine IF your minimum requirements are deemed acceptable for ATR FO duties. In 5J, they will initially consider ATTITUDE as one of the fundamental criteria. Then will train you to proficiency. They will not hesitate to send you home even on the first week of basic indoctrination if justified by your attitude and performance.
Or do the hours have to be earned elsewhere? Such as flying for charter companies?
'Real-world' flying experience will get you noticed. Example, flying command in charter/VIP flying, Regional experience, Freight flying (like the guys doing the Caravan run in Subic Naval base, though that is turbine)... etc. 91 and or 135 time is good.
I hope this helps. good day!

Capt Mark,
Yeah the 500hrs is your total aeronautical experience. I got in with majority of my experience as a Flt Inst in Aust.
It all boils down to your Attitude, performance on the interview and sim check. With hard work you can do it.
Cheers mate
PS: Good luck to all those having interviews for ATR this week

i already asked this question on another ceb pac thread:
So how's the recruitment going on? Are they still taking time in hiring the next batch of ATR trainees? (Considering they have passed the interview and sim check and yet still waiting for ceb pac's call)
Amidst the oil price hikes, there's no Freeze Hiring at all?

According to the insiders, 7 - 8 Training Captains and 4 - 5 Training F/Os leaving for BKK and KUL this August. September-end batch might comprise the same number. Expecting 3 to 4 more ATRs for this year. August batch will only cover (accdg to source) up to the 3rd or 4th plane which is expected mid September.
Management expediting the Training Captains because of low supply on the left-seat. Some A320 F/Os with high command times were allowed to bid for the ATR command position.

Any updates as to what the waiting period is for the ATR? Gave my application back in June and no call yet...Really excited and anxious. Been studying up turbines and refreshing the old noggin with IFR reading

Well, its good to hear that they are going to call more applicants, real good news. I just hope they give me a heads up early so I can get back to the Philippines.
Are they planning to call interviews for August or September? Any updates would sure be appreciated.
Blue Skies everyone

JolibeeFlyer,
they normally post the list of applicants in the bulletin board for everyone's comments, etc... Last Friday, they called in 8 for initial interview. Now, I don't know if this 8 was on the list posted three weeks ago. Now, if they were, then next month, more than likely they will call in more for August, so on and so forth. I do believe they are pooling the F/O applicants since they are 'easier' to find. Not unlike for ATR Captains.
When they do call you, they will offer a date for initial interview. Tell them if you can make it or not. Offer an alternative date closest to what they gave. If okay with them, then good for you. On day of meeting, if they like what they see and hear, then expect to spend more time in being around their offices than just for the initial meet. If they need more requirements from you, then thats a good indication.
I hope this helps somehow.
good luck!

ATR Pool
That info good to know, thanks. I just hope they give me more heads up because I am still working in the states flying and not that it's hard to get a plane ticket, I just want to make sure I leave on a good note with my flight school.
thanks again.
thanks again.

Cebu Pac ATR division requires 20 more Captains and 15 First Officers. Expecting 6 aircraft online this year and another 4 next year for a total of 10. There is an option for 8 more aircraft on top of the 10.
The technical portion of the Initial Interview is tough. Questions asked will be commensurate to your flight time/experience.
If you don't know what you don't/should know then you are in big trouble.

Brush up on your instrument and raw data... heard there is now a long list for F/O's... on the ATR... but the left seat still needs a lot of more able bodies, 2nd batch from training arriving this August...
Rumour has it that the Airbus division has stopped hiring... any truth to the fact that the ATR's will be the entry level when joining Cebu Pac?

Kudos to the ATR chief Pilot for a great job in selecting Pilots. Only those "deserving" are given the nod. If only they did the same for the Airbus Fleet, we would save a lot of Time and Money on the recurrent retakes.
Thanks to Capt LG "Kilabot ng mga Butaw", the tables have turned on those whose flying skills are barely on par with ppl holders, but still miraculously manage to be released on the 320! They are being off-sked until they are deemed worth to be paid their salaries . Let's put back professionalism (and common sense) in our company guys!
To captains S.A. and L.G. keep up the good work!

Very nice....
Does anybody know if I have a shot in getting in with Cebu Pac?
I've got about 1300TT, and about 100 hrs ERJ145 time. I was wondering if they're hiring FOs for the AirBus or just FO now on the ATRs.
Thank you.
