Another one bites the dust...

... but now the dust has settled and the seventh CEO in ten years has had time to get the feel of it, presumably the chaos has ended, the pay rise has come through and with a huge cash injection from a grateful government, the new B787s will solve all previous problems? Eventually...

Ceo has been pushed aside. He is now 'advisor to the chairman of the board of directors for special projects'.
It appears theyve created a job which requires even less work than the board of directors or B777 fleet manager.

Lots of sackings going on at rba at the moment. Anyone who has knocked heads with the b767 manager,-say 90% of pilots--,,,,and use the word manager loosely,,, is being sacked. This is because other incompetent management failing to introduce b777 airplanes. many pilots are still bonded at rba with a large bond over their head, while others are being sacked. Those who left recently had salary and allowances withheld for leaving before the end of the ridiculous bond.
The b777 fleet manager has not flown any airplane for 3 years. Pilots have been throwing rocks at him trying to get him to fly. The ops manuals have removed all references to the b777. guess he'll have to work now. Rumours of 20 million dollars thrown down the drain.

Rumours of all pilots who reach 60 in their next contract, not being renewed.

Every two weeks pilots and cabin crew receive an email from some manager threatening disciplinary action if you do / do not do something.

Rumours also of a very large payout to the captain that was sacked a few years ago. The svp ao involved did a runner a few years ago. the others involve are still in the fleet office. Theyve cost the airline so much money with that incident and others it begs the question, why are they still there.

What a wholly mismanaged airline it is.

a few faces will change and it will continue is spiral to a very poor low cost airline. conditions continue to fall as we speak.

So Who is Next?

No contract renewal for over 60, bad boys shown the door.
One ac planned to be against the fence v soon and two more by Spring next year, thats 18 left and 18 right seats slots gone!! So who is next??
If I were in charge in these financially challenging times I would get rid of the expensive guys! Its easy!!
Guys with multiple years of pay increments! Guys, on expensive salaries many of us can never achieve.
Guys with lots of kids at school!
Guys who have enjoyed 2 years paid leave, rather than spend the time improving the Flt Ops system by proactivity.
There are loads of old timer/freeloaders in paying management positions (trainers: both line and TRE) who could now be replaced by those on first year left seat salaries who now have loads of experience. The cost of their training would soon be recouped because of the lower salaries they would earn.
Why has NM been trained on 320 to be an IRE when DH has already got a rating? -what a waste of money!!! I would question CD's judgement!?( This developement happened during SVP AO absence- (SO WHO IS IN CHARGE??) I think CD and NM might have a personnal agenda!!!
Come on locals, its your airline. Lets take advantage of the current situation, clear the decks and we can all move forward with a fairer/more equal pay scale and some fresh faces in the training dept.

In the mean time, does anyone have a good agent??

only NZ and Aus licences?

funny, I thought they only accepted UK and New Zealand licences. Unless it has changed since I joined, I think you are incorrect.

For historical reasons. Until 1984 Brunei was administered by UK for all external affairs including aviation. The Air Navigation Order (Overseas Territories) being the relevant act governing licensing, the Brunei DCA recognised UK CAA licences. When RBA started up in 1974/5 with B737s the only UK operator of that type was Britannia and pilots were seconded from them. Malaysia also used the old UK ANO(OT) at the time and MAS operated B737s. Pilots with Malaysian B737 licences included many New Zealanders, who had been seconded to MAS to provide training. As MAS replaced them with local pilots and the Malaysian licences of that time were based upon the same legislation as Brunei, the Brunei DCA recognised Malaysian ANO(OT) licences and several New Zealand pilots joined RBA. When Malaysia dropped the UK ANO(OT) Brunei DCA could no longer recognise the Malaysian licences, but now had several New Zealand pilots flying with RBA. The Brunei DCA decided to accept the New Zealand licences (on which the Malaysian ANO(OT) licences had been based) in their own right and this arrangement persisted after Brunei regained full independence in 1984.

So, it is the Brunei government that sets the requirement through the Brunei Civil Aviation Act and RBA has to comply by employing only UK or New Zealand licenced pilots. The Brunei DCA has sometimes accepted other licences on a case by case basis (e.g. Australian), but only by measuring against either the UK or New Zealand baseline.

in FACT is: Brunei is an independent Soveriegn nation. If you re-read Black Sheep's informative post, Brunei "stepped out" in 1984. With a national population in the region of 500,000, having to set up completely independent govournment departments, such as the DCA, in not cost effective or practicable. Utilising expertise and personnel from friendly nation's govournment departments works well for all concerned.

Goin Nowhere

RBA is goin nowhere and its not going to change!

There are those that have been a long time and are part of the Regime and power, better conditions etc,
And the others are new products, with lower status and can be dispensed with no recompense or compassion...

Shame on this company which was once considered an honourable and great ambassador for its country to stoop to such low levels of inhumanity and recklessness on families all for a dollar!

Seem to remember that this was a title some years back and that quite a few mates getting the chop now - off the 767 - both Capt & FO? or just FO's?

Sounds bad to me, can anyone comment or are the tin hats on.

I hear pilots are called in to see KK and terminated with 3 months pay, some have been taken OFF Roster the same day.

Anybody got any idea of numbers or is it still ongoing.

Are people being made redundant at Royal Brunei? My sympathies, maybe I misunderstood, I may well be in that position in the near future. Does anyone have any info on jobs for experienced FOs on the airbus? Used to live out there as a kid and would love to go back and my wife may have a possible job opportunity in a different field in Brunei. Any thoughts on the present situation would be very gratefully received.
Thanks
