Indian or not?

If you are an Indian or hold some form of Indian citizenship - then you have opportunities.

A TR perhaps (500hrs on type) if you are a foreigner

If not - thread closed

Thats all

Indian conversion

A bunch of guys from my employer have looked into regionals and CFI positions in India. Time on type, especially PIC is needed for the scheduled stuff. Their are limited coperate oppertunities but they will also want turbine PIC.
The guy I talked to there (a "headhunter" for an agency) told me there is a background check that takes at least 2 months. After that you have to take a checkride but my understanding is that there are no written tests because your Indian licence will be based on your UK licence.

If you're Indian all you need is to at least have seen an airplane once (or have a father who has).

Best of luck,
Derek

Hebrick

In short, you need to head to India to get the wheels in motion. That is the only way to deal with the idiots over there..re DGCA & all other Govt. agencies.

It would definately be worth doing a search on this topic - you will find reams of info already discussed on this subject within the forum during last year.

Good luck

its a struggle

so it is a struggle but apparently u do get there eventually..(so i've been told)
i have the 300hrs multi IR too .... its not te job thats the problems coz there are loads goin around(kingfisher and jet would be the ones to go for at the mo).. so much so that there are kids of 19-20 flying 737s ... no offence to any.... but it just doesnt happen anywhere else in the world... but must say there is slackin quality so much so that kingfisher trainees failed their type rating in toulouse with airbus..so standards have to go up ..marginally anyway !!
the struglle is in dealing with DGCA etc... everything is a matter of months rather than days.. each paper to be issued with a certain amount of urgency requires serious backhands... i have to give my conversion papers in july and still i am not sure of the syllabus they plan on testing me on coz there are two diff papers issued by the DGCA with diff syllabus.
all said and done when u do land that job the future here is nothhing but bright ....lots of flying and pretty decent pays... oppurtunities to move up & on...
so the struggle is all worth it!!!!!
