India work visa

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the work visa for India? The Embassy webite says 4 to 6 weeks. Does it actually take this long?

No, it went through fairly quickly, in a matter of days (2005). Probably, it depends on how well the paperwork was prepared (no bribery involved!).

Donīt forget to register during the first fourteen days in India (or be prepared to foot some extra money after that).

All the best for Incredible India!

Am I correct that you need a employee contract before you can apply for the work visa???

Thanks for the info. I have been doing my homework since November and learning something new everyday. Patience is indeed a virtue. For the 48hours I was over for my sim eval i enjoyed it all and can't wait to get over there.
