That is true. The initial plan was getting two B747-400’s. But the availability of these aircrafts on the market and the time frame needed to operate was not there. So they had to go for the available which was B747-100 & B747-300. They have chosen the 300’s. The main aim of the company is to have all the staff if applicable from the Philippines. But some Executives & Senior Management positions may come from other countries of the world accordingly to the experience level needed.
Also very soon there will be a group of foreign airline consultants joining to finalize the pre-operation and monitor the first 6 months of operations. All I can say is that I can see that they are serious and going slowly but surely. This is a plus for us all.
Good luck to all.

Last info I got is that the company still needs pilots...so for those interested, doesn't hurt to apply...just don't short change yourselves.
They will be operating the 747-300...747-400 hopefully will follow after two years (if it lasts that long) Joke...more power to ya all. Cheers.

I am not trying to be pessimistic, but this Tair air really got peoples attention. No Airplanes to prove their existence, No training set-up, Not even the right people to talked to about Recruitment.
This might be another Silangan Airways in the making, well at least Silangan saw the flight on Russian Tupolevs for sometime before closing down.
I still hope this Airline push through, otherwise it will leave lots of disappointed fellows.
In PAL, they say don't believe it until you see the Wheel rolling in.

I can sense the company will push through..maybe they are just taking their time to setup things slowly..from what I've read before was everything was ready, hope to see them fly and run it smoothly soon..guys and girls in the cabin forum are very active in the board posting..I think most of them belongs to the recently form cabin crew batch for their inaugural flight sometimes in march

JC,
They have hired a group of overseas consultants to lunch the airline & monitor the initial operations. They will pump in by mid February. The DC10F is signed already; the two B747-300 aircrafts are ready in the final negotiations and the first bird will be in livery by last week in February. So the plan is operations will commence by this coming March.
So the saying of PAL “don't believe it until you see the Wheel rolling in” will not work in our case.
Once more, good luck to all applicants & see you onboard very soon.

As of this morning, they havent managed to change the bilateral agreement. They dont have the rights to operate to Jeddah!
I sincerely hope that they dont plan daytime departures from Riyadh

Hi SL,
Silangan Air was a project materialized early 90's. They used Russian Tupolevs similarly looking as the DC9 having two engines at the rear fuse.
The Planes were there and flew for sometimes, but to be honest I don't have any idea if it ever carried passengers, or if those flights were just Test flights. Reasons for their early demise? No idea.

I just got from my old clips to share about:..I would like to ask if this EO 500 is for Free Port Zones only like Clark and Subic.. and also if this "bilateral talks" are included to this Executive Orders..I think EO 500 is the softer version of the EO 500 A..anyone who have any info on this..tnx
Philippine Star Ding Cervantes
"He pointed out the new Tair flights are not covered by limitations imposed by the controversial Executive Order 500-A since the airliner will fly only between Clark and Saudi. EO 500-A virtually bars foreign airlines from flying into the Philippines from another country and on to another foreign destination."
By DARWIN AMOJELAR, The Manila Times Reporter
Similarly, President Arroyo in August issued Executive Order 500 to relax restrictions on foreign carriers to operate unlimited frequencies to encourage them to increase flights to Diosdado Macapagal and the Subic Bay international airports. Under EO 500, the home countries of the foreign airlines do not have to give the same privileges to the country’s local airlines.
