F-50 time, is it worth the change?
Dear All
With about 3000 hours in my pocket, some 500 Multi IFR time all on piston engine. I have been offered a job on Fokker 50 (20 ton turboprop) with United Airways BD, I would like to know if any of you can provide his insight on this newly start up company? Also about working and living conditions in Bangladesh
Contract conditions: Bond 2 years, have to pay for type rating (19000 Euros), pass airlaw to get a B. License. All of that for 1000 USD after training…hmmm, this is much lesser than what I am earning now
Is getting turboprop time a step towards Jet time? or does it really not matter? Will it advance you further or the question of money is most important?
Confused!

I dont know anything about Bangladesh. But my question for you is, if you pay for the rating why should you be bonded?
Turbo prop time is definately an advantage. As is the multi crew time, at a push it can be claimed that the F50 is also glass cockpit. The F50 is a great plane (provided the apu works).
The question you should ask, IMHO, is where you want to be at the end of your career. Do you want to be a jet captain in Europe? or Asia? How is this job going to advance my chances. Where can I go from there?
If you're in Malaysia already wouldn't you be better off to get a job with Airasia? No change of country, just the type rating? If it costs you more.. do it. If you can get yourself into the right hand seat of a jet, you are streets ahead.
Unfortunately there is no correct answer, you can only decide for yourself.
Good Luck

Apa Khabar Syrian, If it helps your Decision I believe Parc were asking for 23500 Euro for TR to Join Air Asia on 73. This is a typical amount for a 73 TR from this sort of deal but you can get cheaper for sure. I was asked to cough 14K euro once for F27 JAA rating and that is too hi. F50 is efis with Pratt n Witts and reversing choppers and a few more nice toys so how its 19K is beyond me.
Bonded on top and 1000 USD PM thats gonna be hard in BG,
Just my Point of view,

$19,000 Euros for a fricking turboprop type rating?
You could get typed in a 737 for a lot less.
Guys that pay for their own training allow this practice to continue. There's no way I'd recommend going that route. Keep looking. 3000 TT and 500 multi should get you a job that you don't have to pay a dime for.
