Career Change

Hi Everyone

Was wondering if anyone could help me with this strange idea that I have got. I always wanted to be a pilot since childhood (ya ya every kids dream). I did not have to money nor the support to do it back then. I moved on the next best thing to be close to planes and Im now an Avionics aircraft maintenane engineer with ratings on the 737/747/310. Suddenly I find that there is a demand for pilots and getting a job should not be a problem in my country India (I currently live and work in Australia), in addition I have around 50K saved up. This has got me thinking and rekindled a long lost passion. So its very very tempting to give it a shot. As usual its nerve wrecking and I am looking for suggestions. One important thing is that Im not young (30 years)

Thanks for your input

regards

Mate,if you still have an Indian passport... what are you waiting for....jump into it ASAP you have the money saved up, you have an aviation background, dont waste any more time.

Huge shortage of pilots, Jet and AI are about to train cadets in Aus, guys in India are getting jobs with out multi-engine ratings.

You need a min of 10 + 2 maths and physics, or eqv from another country's examining board. Without this there is no further movement down the chain.

As to where you should, or more the point, where you shouldn't train is up to you. Judging from your post, maybe Australia might be a good place to do some preliminary investigation.

Hope it all works out for you.

Licensed Engineer to CPL?

Ritzy

Let me know how you get on, i am having the same sleepless nights.

I'm an experienced and reasonably well paid LAE, (Same £ as a DASH 8 Captain), working for a budget airline, with huge employment potential for low hour CPL's.

What do i do? Go get my life savings, release the equity in my house?

Put myself through 2 years of no doubt rewarding but stressful training, only to take a presummed pay cut to the tune of £15-£20k pa. (Thats IF i pass!)

Umm ....What do ya do when it's all you've ever 'really' wanted to do?

Should i just be content with my new PPL and build on that?

Questions to the house please:

A 38 Should i or shouldn't I?
The feel good factors are there, are they real?....Pilot shortage etc.

Cabair or Oxford for Modular, as this will be my route?
Oh what about Bristol ground school, any good?

I know many of these questions and threads exist, but an up to date comment or two, would be great,

Cheers for ANY constuctive reply's
