Thats good to hear.I was there back in 95/96 and that was certainly not the case,having said that,most pilots and captains i flew with were great and the pramugari's were fantastic (if you know what i mean).
I'd be interested to know why the change in attitiude.Was it just a gradual change(ie less smokers now) or was there a policy change that got it all started.

Suggest you read a bit more. Smoke from tobacco and cannabis contains many of the same carcinogens, and cell damage linked to lung cancer has been found in the lungs of chronic cannabis smokers

Well, the old school gradually left, during your time here the change already started. Though mainly on the 737s that it started... (even the last of the 742s were I heard, a smoker's club)... Then the company policy on CRM and non-smoking flights came in. All hell started to break loose with some old guard captains when the girls started flying the 737s! Real CRM challenges by them for the old guard... who quickly left to other types!
That's the talk anyways, dunno about the real factors behind the change.
