Attention Singapore ATC (Changi)

OK. I can't hold on any longer. 1.Oil is up at 80 USD. 2. We have constant problems maintaining our schedules - especially into Singapore and 3. we would like to maximise the use of the aircraft's automation.

Some examples of how I think you could improve the service.

1. These new sids are a joke. We are given times to make Paspu that couldn't be achieved if we were riding a bicycle - let along flying a jet. We just cant lose 7 minutes in 40 track miles.

2. ICAO states air traffic is to be processed in an orderly and espeditious manner. As an example of a lack of efficiency which appears to becoming the norm, we departed Jakarta with a flight plan estimate of time 05. On putting in a very lengthy Remes 6B for Runway 20 our FMGC shows we lose 7 minutes (now looking at time 12). However we are vectored 36nm north of the airport and finally touch down at time 22. We leave Jakarta early (7mins) and arrive 5 - 10 late into Singapore. 10 percent of our fuel burn is used to the north of Singapore.

3. Stop reading callsigns back to aircraft when they acknowledge a call. E.g "Singapore 226 descent to 3000". Response from aircraft "3000 Singapore 226". It is superfluous to then say "Singapore 226". Moreover it is confusing as we stop what we are doing to anticipate another instruction.

4. Either keep us on the star/sid or give us track shortening. Example one is outbound to Hong Kong we are kept almost precisely on the star with radar headings. This is not making the most of the aircraft capabilities. Inbound very late at night on the same flight with no traffic at all (3am) we are issued the Paspu 1B. It is only later that we ask for direct to Nylon that we are given it (of course as there's no one else around).

5. Please try not to let the aircraft level at 20000ft or whatever and then give us a frequency change for higher. If the aircraft is continually levelling then climbing it is very inefficient, noisey and uncomfortable for our passengers. If we tell you "approaching" we are reminding you.

6. Your processing of Take off and landing aircraft is far from optimal. Go to Hong Kong or better still LA and see how efficient it can be.

On a positive note, I think Singapore ATCs processing of traffic in bad weather/thunderstorms is the very best I have seen anywhere.

I hope this helps us.

Heartedly concur with all of the above. Waited 27 mins at the holding point for T/O recently due to the huge gaps between departures!

Hope the new arrival manager will help the controllers, but that will only happen in 2007.
