Getting Started In India
Hi All
I am just a bit confused about starting my aviation career in india.I am planning to go to california in a couple of months for my CPL+IR but have been advised that i should get a first class medical done in CME New Delhi before that as they are very finicky about the medicals there. DO i need to be enrolled in a flying school to be able to take that Medical or do i need a students pilot licence for that. Any help woul;d be appreciated.

Getting started
Hey Roo
1st things 1st: For an FO you need to be of Indian origin, or have a TR with atleast 250 -500 hrs on type. However, I do believe the rules are in the process of changing with regard to FO's due to pilot shortage!!
With regard to your medical, no you do not have to be affiliated with a flying school. I would rcommend that you do your medical @ IAM in Bagalore (nxt door to the airport). Very friendly & helpful guys there, & not as busy as Delhi. If you are not of Indian origin, make sure you get a security clearance to go there as its a military base. Takes approx 5-7 days to get one - just go down there to fill in a form and they will do the rest - no bribe necessary. I went there with a JAA class 1 med, no problems, all done in one day.
If you need any further help just shout.
Good luck
