Where to buy GA pilot equipment in Singapore?

Can anyone advise me on where one can buy GA pilot equipment e.g. headsets, CRP5/CR2, kneeboards etc? I have tried searching the Yellow Pages as well as Googling but have not turned up anything so far. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Very difficult to find local. Best way is to buy online at places like sportys.com or ebay.

GA suppliers are not difficult to find at all, if you ask the right people, eg your club.

The logical first stop - your friendly local neighbourhood flying club, eg Seletar Flying Club:

What good is a flying club if they want to sell you courses but can't supply your equipment needs? Of course they may have a preference to sell stuff to their students / members, that is only natural. Call them, but expect to leave a message. Darshan Singh is not always there, so don't just show up at the club.

Thank you, but nah, I not in GA or pilot supplies but just have some GA toys to play with now and then.

In this day of efficient record keeping and retrieval, when required I just dredge out these little bits of info and join them up. One day someone else will benefit, as can be seen.

Years ago there was a pilot shop run by an SQ captain in Penang Road but that's closed down. That was the closest thing us pilots had, to geting all our toys in one place. Now whenever I see stuff I might like to use in the cockpit, I just note it down so that one day I can trawl it out when needed.

Absolutely. To me, at least, the personal headset is how you plug into an aircraft and become one with the aircraft, and it is the only constant as you progress through different aircraft. The instrument panel and controls will change, but your headset will always be there, giving that sense of familiarity that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside even when you might be flying the worst flight of your life.

I feel a sense of closeness to my primary headset (I've got two) even though my second one is newer and looks nicer. With your own headset, you can modify it, add on cloth ear covers and gel seals(my best combo for luxurious headset comfort), paste funky stickers on the ear cups, fiddle with the mic gain. These are things that shared headsets will never offer you.

I used my flight school's common headsets (ASA brand, CRAP) during my first month of flying, and every so often I was shifting them in-flight because they were gross (oily), gave me hot spots on my ears and never quite conformed to my head. I decided that while you fly, your headset should be the least of your concerns so I went ahead and bought a quality headset (Sennheiser, Telex and Sigtronics are my favourites), and have never looked back.

Go get yourself one, I guarantee you won't regret it. Looking for that one headset that fits you like a glove is a fun journey you will surely enjoy. Furthermore, you're now a professional pilot so you'll be using it much more than a weekend warrior like me, so I am sure you will benefit a lot.

Owning a personal headset is good if you can afford a good one. I'm assuming you are a SIA cadet going to train in Jandakot. For your information, you'll be using a different kind of headset when you reach the Learjet stage. So the headset that you buy now is only good for the Jandakot phase unless you intend to do some GA flying later on. Cheers.

Just for my information, what headset connector do the Learjets and Boeing widebodies use?

The Boeing's use the same as what most G/A Airplanes use twin plugs PJ-066 and PJ-068. You could use your Green Domes on a Boeing Jet but you'd sure get some funny looks from the bloke in the other seat!

The 'Buses however use a single XLR connector.
