Rishworth-Air India

Can anyone who has had any dealings with Rishworth and the Air India contract pass on their experience.
I was told if I go to the interview and decline the position I owe Rishworth some amount of money.
This just doesn't sound right.

I have not had any problems with Rishworth, but have heard rumours of problems with some of the other agencies. I am sure there are good and bad reports on all of them.
Not aware of having to pay if you don't sign contract with Rishworth. There is a payment of $2000 if you pass China Airlines selection and don't sign on. This is the only case I know of.

Here's the relevant item from Rishworth:

DECLARATION

I have applied for a B777 Captain position with Air India Charters Limited (AICL) through Rishworth Aviation Ltd (RAL).
If I am successful at screening in Seattle, and I am offered a contract by Rishworths, on assignment to AICL, I will accept the contract on the terms and conditions as disclosed to me.

If after I have successfully completed the screening programme in Seattle, I am offered a position with AICL, and decline to accept the position, I agree to pay RAL US$2,000.

I acknowledge that I have read and understand the implications of the above, and I acknowledge that RAL will actively enforce this declaration and will seek full recovery and costs.

I therefore undertake to attend the screening on the above basis or incur the penalties imposed by this declaration.

Since the 4-day 'screening' includes a tech & procedure refresher and also a licence revalidation, this at least keeps away the 'opportunists' and time-wasters.

If you read your contract carefully and compare it to other contracting companies agreements you will find they RISHWORTH are the ryanair of contractors;Ripping you for every penny;

Only paying you on the 10th of the following month,if a weekend then the12th or bank weekend then ??? Amazing that other contracting companies pay before the end of month for the same company...dont forget that o/t is paid the next month so Rishworth billing is for the straight monthly salary so no reason for delay as others get it many days before month end
My buddy working for them had a cheque not paid from an Insurance company into his account and they claimed lost cheque .......in this day and age.????? so had to be re-issued.

A US$500 fee if you miss a scheduled flight, not forgetting that the company has prob reported you late back due to wife/family probs and no further financial liability..................they rob you of $500.

And the worst is that anything will be said to force you to re-sign as has been witnessed......dont forget guys now its not job vacancies that are paramount.....IT IS CONTRACTED PILOTS ON THE BOOKS......so think long and hard, give contract to a Lawyer if necessary, but JEALOUSLY GUARD your right to freedom of choice.

Like Farns744, I have not had any problems with Rishworths on my Air India contract. Yes they don't pay until 10th of the month, but is that really a problem.

Rishworth has a new management and some new investors, they are trying to clean up their act. That said no one in that co has any aviation background; talk to their staff and they are lost with some aviation terms.
