NF, I don't think Ark was referring to the profit share when he posted the over/under betting.
I can see interesting times ahead despite a generous profit share. Housing allowance hasn't been addressed at all yet. Lots of guys are coming to tenancy renewals and are seeing their rents increase by >50%. They have difficult choices to make. The lucky few who bought their condo units will also be tempted to cash in and move on.
My money is on "slightly over" with more to follow later in the year.

When I lived in Singapore landlords would often double the rent knowing you would have to leave, they then re-let at something between what you were paying and the double figure. By changing tenants they get their hands on a new deposit which they then use the difference between that and the old deposit, (which they will try and avoid repaying in full), to tart the place up, thus maintaining their obligations to maintain the property without having to dig too deep into their own pockets in one hit.
If you happen to know your landlord and get on with him it makes a big difference. Dealing through agents, who get a new commission if they get a new tenant at increased rent are no use to you at all, the best they might do is offer to find you somewhere else, from which they will also get a commission!

Do you mean to say that you actually BELIEVE in promises made in this industry? How long have you been in it? And slagging those who only speak the Queen's English? How continental...

Oh, bravo, Warden.
Somehow I don't really think you're sorry at all. Just a hunch.
It's been said before that languages are not a guarantee of anything. A man who can make a fool of himself in three languages is a three-times-bigger fool than a man who is confined to one.
Having revisited PPRuNe these last two days, after a considerable hiatus, one comes to the quite solid conclusion that you are not putting those many, many languages you boast of to their best use, sir.
Have you perhaps considered teaching someone how to speak any one of the increasingly irrelevant and vaguely obscure European tongues you're undoubtedly bleating on about, instead of demeaning the common folk who speak but one?

Warden, you're really a bitter guy. I guess everyone in the world is against you. In SIA only you manage to find a lot of enemies:
The Pilots - bad CRM
The Management - Taking away the ac they "promised you"
The new instructors - guess you've got some critique
The english speaking guys - don't know your problem there
Guess that's about all of your collegues. And they take your hours as well...
I got good news for you though. With the coming surplus you might be able to get a deal with RL. You leave before the bonus is paid next year and they don't charge you for the bond.
With all your language skills you would be perfect for a contract job with Ryan Air where you can get new bases every month.
Don't stay here and become more bitter, life is too short for that!

CARGOJOCK
very impressed that you still have some of the bonus left. most wives/ex-wives have already spent it from what I hear: car, liposuction, tummy tuck, breast lift. It's so cheap in BKK!!
will be intresting in see how long the "after-glow" from S$60,000 lasts with the troops. at the end of the day, what has changed? for me nothing. but that's not a bad thing. glad to be alive and have a job. Singapore Rocks!

make hay while the sunshine
hey lads,
looks like we are in for round 2 the "rats" from the mainline want to get back as they are doing 20 hours a month and what's worse they stay at home and have to look at there partners, oh thats where the bonus went are to doll them up?
the SAS lads have had there contract option of 6 months withdrawn too. but i heard many of them are happy to get back to civilization, especially the FO who were promised command and now said that no requirement.
i also heard some lads getting harrassed in the simulator for the base checks.rather shameful "chaps".
well watchout for that rouge wave it is gonna sweep us all off are feet. SQ cargo may be swallowed by mainline as the experiment has been a failiure.
THE FLEET HAS SHRUNKED TOO.........
SO NONE OF US WILL HAVE THE CONTRACTS EXTENDED. WE WILL HAVE TO BIGHT ON OUR TEETH AND RIDE THE REST OF THE REMAINING DAYS OF THE CONTRACT UNLESS YOU FLY OFF TO SOME WHERE ELSE OOOOOOOOOpps forgot that BOND agaaaaaaaaaain.

Regarding alleged unprofessional behavior towards an examinee during base checks: that's nothing new.
BB: outright, overt actions which would promt a justified sim shutdown rarely occur. These dudes have been playing this humiliation game for many, many years and know just how far to tread into the "grey zone", but still give themselves an out. During my most recent check, received a very long winded, patronizing lecture on the use of certain ICAO terminology. A one sentence comment would have more than sufficed. After "white-knuckling" my arm rest and bestowing a few obligatory head nods, decided to forgive the geek. Probably hen-pecked at home and is no longer able to get his "release" in NKG or PVG!!
BTW, the boys in ICN are having two "happy hour" periods next month. IF and when our rosters finally are published, could always pop up to say: "hey!"
