SIA Pilot Career Talk
hi guys. Just got a very disheartening email from SIA. My application for the 16th career talk has been unsuccessful albeit fulfilling the minimum requirements in the physical, education and working experience aspect. For whatever reasons they may have, I wish all other hopefuls good luck and success. Nonetheless, I'll still pursue my passion for flying..but this news was indeed a blow to my self confidence..period.

hi terryble,
i still hold my head high and will strive to achieve my goals. I did send in my direct application but I'm beginning to doubt my chances since I am even rejected for their career talk. This has undeniably shaken my confidence a little.
hi funnyloh,
i sent last thursday and got the news today. Perhaps no news YET is good news

Hi guys,
I seem to be out of the loop but what is this career talk that's being talked about? I'm previously applied (unsuccessfully) to SQ...so am always keen and on the lookout for a 2nd chance.

kuchinghitam... i applied for the careertalk as well but till now i haven't receive any reply... i doubt they may even want to reply back as i screw up the email application (made some typo errors and actually send them thrice the same email with little amendments...duh!)... besides that, i didn't met some of their requirements...
by the way, you indicated your working experience in your application email... that's not part of the requirement rite?
Don't be dishearten.. try again.. no harm rite..

hi predator79,
Not too sure about it but at least I got a reply and I can proceed with my weekly plan and do not have to worry about buying tickets and hotel reservations. I did not state my working experience, only my education level right up to degree and a SPM (donkey years ago) result of full As. I did not state my relevant working experience as it was not part of the application requirement (i was in the shipping line ;freight management division). Still, it is intriguing of why my application was rejected. Tough luck eh..

Don't be disheartened. So they didn't invite you for the career talk. No big deal. The vast majority of the cadets didn't attend anything like that as well, and probably never even heard of such a thing. I know I haven't. haha. Focus on what's impt i.e. your interviews. Whether they invite u to the talk or not has no indication on whether they will invite you for an interview.

Hey guys going for the career talk... any idea what do we expect for this talk? Do you think they will issue us with application to apply for the cadet pilot position? Or it is merely a walkabout and some answer and question session?

hi predator79,
the last time i went for the career talk a few years back, the programme was roughly like this.
Morning - Talks on the job itself, selection process, training process, video presentation, etc.
Lunch Break - the food was pretty good then
Afternoon - More talks, tours of flight simulators, Q and A session.
Roughly like that.
