MH Q1 Financial Result

THE STAR
-----------

"MAS will announce its first quarter results this evening when it is expected to announce a large loss due to high fuel prices"

I wonder if MAS will sign the new M of U with 25/60 package.

Food for thought guys.

MAS MD Departs

MAS managing director retires

News update by The Star Newsdesk

Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS)'s managing director Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Dahlan has retired, following which, the board will search for a new managing director, sources said.

Union leaders and executives were informed of this development today, the sources added.

Meanwhile, a five-member executive committee has been formed at the airline company.

At the same time, Penerbangan Malaysia Bhd (PMB)'s managing director Tengku Azmil Zaharuddin Raja Abdul Aziz will be appointed as an executive director of the airline company. PMB is the parent company of MAS.

MAS will announce its first quarter results this evening when it is expected to announce a large loss due to high fuel prices for which the company had hedged only a portion of its requirements

I got this figures fm a friend of mine :

Cathay Pacific announces 2005 interim results
CX records interim profit of HK$1,670 million.
This compares to a profit of HK$1,771 million in the first half of 2005.
Turnover increases by 21.5% to HK$23,884.
Fuel costs rise to 27.9% of net operating cost.

Wonder why MAS always find excuses for not making money ................

What do you expect from a company run by malays?

Typical way of thinking is blame someone/something else, then ask the government for more money...

Replace the board with people that have ACTUAL airline experience in a REAL airline (one that actually makes a profit)!

Not someone that buys a DATO title...

MAS is screwed....HUGE changes are needed and it has to start at the top.

Start with staff morale, then look at wages, working conditions, etc .....the list goes on!

The problem is....you can't change the Malay way of thinking!

If you could that they might have the ability to be a power house in SE Asia. No doubt Singapore airlines are glad MAS can't get it together....

A deathly silence? who are in the loop? unions and associations working with the management? nothing wrong in that so long as they don't sell out. chairmainso quick to announce bold plans without the details as reported in the newspapers. How safe is the 25/60? will history repeat itself? will a new flight ops management team outdo the predecessors.

The problem with MH is simple and yet the government refuses to address the problem which is:

THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT. Simple as that and below are the soloutions to put MAS back into the black.

1) The Malaysian Government chooses the chief executive of MAS, and the choice is usually terrible (Choose a professional and allow him/her at least 3 years to do the job without interferance Ie. hire/fire/retrench/restructure.

2) The Malaysian Government imposes caveats to the chief such as social obligations routing, pricing etc. (MAS uses this as its excuse to run into the red so get real in the areas of marketing and distribution, re-look at the host reservations system and get stuck into route revenue and yield management. AT THE MOMENT THE TRAVEL AGENTS YIELD MANAGE MAS AND THE CORRUPT MANAGERS TAKE A SLICE OF THE ACTION AT LEAST 10%)

3) the Malaysian Government prohibits the chief executive from retrenching 30% of the staff. (We should get rid of the Talibans who sit around all day doing nothing, MAS is no longer a place to shelter lazy bumis, that time is over and they have wasted the last 30 years without learning anything except being lazy)

4) The Malaysian Government condones the corrupt practices within the airline of which they are well aware of (Lets start at sales and work our way through the entire airline. THE ROT STARTS AT THE BOTTOM AND GOES ALL THE WAY UP. THERE IS NO CULPABILITY THROUGH PROPER INVENTORY MANAGEMENT BECAUSE EVEN THE AUDIT TEAM IS IN ON THE ACT.

5) All toads and cohorts should have their balls removed and sent to the neurosurgery department at the GH for a frontal labotamy.

6) MAS needs to get back to basics and look at their core business which is selling seats on aircraft, not expensive childrens menus and super first class seats because to sell first class you need class and MAS has lost it.

RESTRUCTURE BY INVERTING THE PYRAMID:

A) INCREASE THE PAY OF THE GENERAL STAFF TO INDUSTRY STANDARD AND CUT OUT OVERTIME
B) SACK 30% OF THE LAZY MANAGERS AND DEPUTIES
C) SELL ALL THE NEW MANAGEMENT CARS AND KILL THE MANAGEMENT TRAVEL AND WASTEFUL PERKS
D) PAY THE PILOTS ENGINEERS AND CABIN CREW INDUSTRY WAGES
E) LOOK INTO THE ROUTE REVENUE AND YIELD VS COSTS ON A PER SECTOR PER FLIGHT BASIS
F) INTRODUCE A MULTI FARE STRUCTURE BASED ON SEAT FACTOR AND YIELD
G) DILUTE THE BRAND ON THE DOMESTIC SECTORS BY INTRODUCING A LOW COST CARRIER ALTERNATIVE UTILISING THE CURRENT AVAILABLE ASSETS AND DRIVE AIRASIA TO HELL
H) STRICTLY MONITOR ENGINEERING SPARES INVENTORY
I) RATIFY THE FLEET AND ENGINES TO THE SMALLEST GROUP POSSIBLE TO ENSURE COMMINALITY OF SPARES/SYSTEMS ECT
J) ENSURE PROPER TROUBLE SHOOTING TO MINIMISE SPARES WASTAGE AND COST
K) STOP CORRUPTION STOP CORRUPTION STOP CORRUPTION

This is just the tip of the iceberg but will they change!!!!!!

CAPTAIN WOOBLAH you make some valid points...

You left out the key piece what causes all these problems

THEY ARE MALAY!!!

You can't change them, you can't beat them and as sure as hell you can't join them...

Why do you think this is still a third world country?

Longlatif,

I fear that your judgment has been impaired by your racist attitude. Please try to move on for your own peace of mind.

Not all Malays are lazy or stupid just as not all Chinese are smart and rich or that all Indians are rubber tappers or all white chaps are brilliant ect ect ect ect.

I have over the years worked with Malays in the aviation industry from pilots to engineers that are second to none anywhere in the world. The problem in MAS are the TALIBANS, and anyone from MAS knows exactly what I mean and who these people are.

Come on man forgive and forget but lets be honest about it. If you have a beef with a particular bunch of dudes point out the exact area and don't generalise. I wiould wager that you too have a problem with Talibans !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wooblah.
