What absolute rubbish. Tiger is going from strength to strentgh and the merger of weak competitors is to be encouraged, but certainly not joined!

Jetstar and Tiger join forces in Singapore in a move that has angered Malaysian Airlines and Value Air. It is beleived that Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon and senior managers of Tiger have been in talks for several months due to the down turn in aviation and increase in fuel prices.

Have not seen the article but is it true?

Longlatif - Absolute tosh.

Why would Tiger want to put a foot on the rapidly melting iceberg that is JSA?

If Tiger is doing that, why are JSA pilots applying to Tiger? Wouldn't they just want to wait and see if all they needed to keep continuous service was a change of hat badge?

Grrrrrrrrrr

Hi all,

Not sure about the merging article, but check out NST dated 12/7/05.There's an article about Tiger and Jetstar abandoning talks of merging. So there should have been a merging plan prior to this......no?

Don't believe everything (ANYTHING!) you read in the newspapers....

Just ask yourself - why on earth would Tiger want to merge with JSA?? What is in it for Tiger??

JSA may well want to merge with Tiger - but it takes willing on both sides to start this sorta thing.... Stripey would like to date Cindy Crawford, but that isn't going to happen, 'cos Cindy don't want to date Stripey! Capiche?

Tiger does not need JSA. Tiger does not need Valuair.

The reverse statement? Hmmmmm.

Stripey sees carnage ahead... but just remember that no-one eats Tigers....

Grrrrrrrr

Trust me - the only trophies on the wall at Changi will be a kangaroo's head and a Valuair tail!

No tiger skin rugs, that's for sure!

Grrrrrr

I beleive there are more kangaroo's than Tigers in the world these days....

I'm sure your job will be safe at Tiger StripeyJet with or without the merger.

Which particular part of "absolute tosh" is not being understood here?

Angry

What a load of sh!t!

It was Jetstar and Valueair that had talks - which have now been completed without any merger/takeover! Tiger were never in the talks! Some Singapore Journo said it was a good idea, but you can't believe what you read in the papers!

SQ will support Tiger

QF will support JetstarAsia

They will 'fight the fight' for the 'big two' until the SYD-LAX issue is resolved!

Not sure what will happen to Valueair - not in bed with the 'big two'.

Valueair is on the outside on this one

Tiger pilots will be safe!

Please bear in mind that the big fight is not among the Changi predators, but across the Strait: AA is still the number one, and SQ founded TR because of them.

JSA and Valuair are just for the breakfest, AA is the main course for the Changi hunter...

I repeat the original question which had nothing to do with mergers between Tiger/Jetstar/Valuair. What's happening with Tiger management? Surely some of you tiger-jockeys can tell the rest of us as the rumours are flying about a new CEO (No 2 or 3?) and a new chief pilot (No 2 or 3?).

1. No new CEO.

2. Chief pilot became chief training, new chief pilot not yet appointed.

Dani thanks. Just saw the advert in Flight International for Chief Pilot and Head of Quality and Safety. When are the pilot jobs coming up? What are the T & Cs like and is it true you must pay for your own type rating even if you're already rated?
