I remember those things, used to see them out of Bankstown Airport (couple of them sent in to fight bush fires in summer). As far as I know, mostly Yanks flying them, cowboy looking bunch i remember snacking at the local burger king after fire fighting.

up and go,
As far as I know they are still operating in Sarawak but not 100% sure.
Most guys I know who fly for them started on their Longranger than B205 in Sarwak before getting on the Aircrane as a co-pilot. I believe that they recruit through their head office in the states. They do require an FAA licence.
Try looking on their website at www.ericksonaircrane.com/ which may give you the info you are after.

Used to see them in MYY and SBW, but not anymore. Their office / hangar beside the road connecting SBW airport to town is still there but the Eriksson sign is gone, replaced by another company. Heliaviation if I'm not mistaken.
