JALways
There is some information out there on the board, as many will ask you to search for Japan, JAL, JALways along with Hawaii Aviation, IASCO and WASINC.
I recently went through the process and have accepted employment with one of the recruit firms. I believe IASCO (www.iasco.com) is conducting the screening for the August class.
The process done by WASINC (www.wasinc.net) was as follows.
1 day of computer testing, a semi-formal interview where they were mostly interested in why JALways, why hire you, etc.
1 day of simulator "prep/training/familiarization". This sim session is meant for them to assess you before sending you to the actual evaluation done by the Japanese.
And finally the simulator evaluation.
Most people don't make it through the simulator for numerous reasons. They would like to see that you can handle the simulator without devoting all your energy trying to fly it. Like being able to communicate with others while flying it, cross check the FO, etc.
The profile is fairly simple. Take off, fly a pattern back around for an ILS, take off again this time you'll fly it raw data (the "flight director" is more of a trend vector device).
Finally the last item is a 3 engine approach.
If you have the time and funds, buy some time in the 747-200 sim in either Minneapolis or in Denver. Or... get the 747-200 add on for Microsoft Simulator for familiarization of the gages.
www.aviationinterviews.com also has some gauge.
Good luck

I have been offered an interview for the JALWAYS HNL First Officer position.
Could anyone answer any of these questions as I have to make a decision very soon.
1. Average Pay per month (including overtime etc)
2. Do they get you home to your country for days off?
3. Can you move your family to HNL if your not US citizen?
4. Time to command?
5. Which is the better agency to go with? IASCO etc
6. DO you only fly with expat pilots?
7. What are the flight attendants like???????
8. Do they provide hotel accomandation in HNL once online
9. How is this job for commuting?
10.Tax issues?
11. Do you only fly the passenger aircraft?
I know lots of posts have been on this forum, but no really specific answers. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

bags_packed....
Expect to make around 80K or so as an FO.
Upgrade is subject to change, but has lately been going at around 3 years.
IASCO has a part135 certificate and that might make it easier to commute to the mainland. Wasinc and Hawaii Aviation do not have a certificate.
IASCO pays you the full amount, Wasinc holds back 14.8% which is contributed to a 401K, but not 100% vested for 3 years. This can be both a positive and a negative. If you want your money up front and choose how to spend them, well then IASCO gives you that option. If you want to put as much money as possible into a 401K plan, you can actually put almost 30% of your salary into it working for Wasinc.
Taxes.. well unless you have a special relationship with the IRS you'll have to pay them as if you lived on the mainland.
A 747 has plenty of FA's. Where you concerned about having to deal with lots of them or where you looking for something special?
I believe you have to be either a US citizen or green card holder to work in Hawaii (since it's one of those US states :-) They will not sponsor a green card.
Give IASCO a call. Their contact info should be on their website. www.iasco.com
I am sure they would be more than happy to answer your questions.
Again,
Good luck!

running out of time guys,
can you get discount tickets with any airline when working for JALWAYS to go back to your home country?
Seems money is good but not if you are paying full fare tickets. Any ideas?

Moderate, Modest & Mild.
IASCO seems to offer a far better deal on the JALWAYS contracts, than PARC does on the JAL Express deal.
For example:
The only ID travel we are offered is ID75 (unconfirmed, twice p.a.) and ID50 (confirmed, four times p.a.) - however, the prices are based on the very HIGHEST fare structures that JAL have, and are, in reality, unaffordable.
My son bought (from a travel agent) a ticket on JAL to travel BNE-NRT-LHR return for under AUD2,800 - when I asked JAL how much an ID50 would cost me over the same sectors, I was told AUD7,200!
So the ID travel PARC have arranged is meaningless.
The salary increase under the PARC contract is 1% per annum vs 2% under IASCO;
The overnight allowance with PARC is JPY6,000 vs IASCO's almost JPY10,000;
Monthly days off with IASCO = 10....................PARC = 8;
There is NO pension/retirement plan with PARC, whereas I see IASCO has in place a 14.8% company contribution scheme.

Small correction..
IASCO does not offer any retirement plan other than yourself contributing to a 401K plan.
The info that was posted earlier showing the numbers was from www.wasinc.net
