Air Asia F/O pay.... is this true?
Fellow Great Aviators,
Got this from a confidential source.New pay scale for AAsia F/O...
Year 1: $4,250
Year 2: $4,250
Year 3: $4,750
Year 4: $5,500
Year 5: $6,000
The above is basic pay. Block hour rate: $45
For Captains:
Year 1 :$12,000 thereafter yearly 3% increase.
Block hour rate :$70
Heard the F/Os are saddled with tons of paper work eg. Load and Trim Sheet, Take Off/Landing Card, Fuel Chits,VRs....
Also no food&drinks(except bottled mineral water). No transports, uniform allowances.....
Their Indons pilots are very united, stood together and met CEO Tony and got what they wanted. Local Captains hitching the "ride"?
What about the poor F/Os? (You worth less than 50%)?
Local Capts. were bitching but suddently after pay review became Mr. Nice Company man?
My heart goes to the F/Os...... do not be discourage! Do your job well and above! I know how u feel when u sit next to your Capt! Your time will certainly come!
I'd neither claim to be the best nor most knowledgable pilot.....

1) That is Basic salary for F/O's per month.
2) No it's not fair.
3) Yes, there is Too Much paperwork for the F/O. Most Airlines are going 'paperless cockpit', Air Asia is still behind on that but the good news is they are going to move towards it soon.
4) The new pay scale takes effect on 1st of June. So there is still time to 'negotiate' as it is not widely accepted as fair and there will be meetings with management to further discuss the new pay scale.

What currency is that? US$? In that case the Capt salary is quite attractive. The FOs is certainly a little low as a % of Capts, (60-70% is more usual), but seems resnoble for an LCC in that part of the world.

I'm pretty certain he's referring to Malaysian Dollars (Ringgit) and not greenbacks.
Which means the Captains salary is around 3000 euro per month, and the F/Os about 1000 euros.

Pay is in Malaysian Ringgit not USD. You would fly about 50-80 hours a month. So the basic plus that productivity would be your take home pay. Tax and provident fund deductions are about 1,000 ringgit in total or just under.

wow,
Thats a bit too much for the LCC CAPts in MALaYSIA...but not too high for the market rate...well deserved!
Looks like the capts in AA is working very hard....hard...hard...and got noticed-thus,justify the increase.
For the FO's-not productive enough for the rise??Work harder harder and harder guys,be good at your job-fly well-then move on to those big BOYS LEAGUE-they can always find a replacement!
FOR caps-its LCC...
For FO's-its LPC....
*LPC-low pay carrier.

Divide the $ by 3.83 then you'll get it into USD.
Generally, the Captains are mainly from GA,Airforce...They're darn glad to fly a jet. Off course they dare not speak up to the boss.
However, for the work they do, the new pay seems to be fair. There is another reason for the payrise. That is to prevent pilots running over to MAS as MAS is no acutely short of pilots and rated 737 driver would be a big advantage.Especially locals with the same operation back ground.

Although cost of living in Malaysia is low if those salaries are in Ringgit that doesn't amount to much. No increase for 2nd year? Bogus. IF the salary is in USD then it's a different story. You could live OK on that kind of money for a few years.
I don't know much about them but I'm guessing they probably have a base in KL and maybe PEN?
