Pity the Pax
well this one in particular, Checked in at Joburg International just before noon for the 13.40 departure to KL. The flight has been delayed until 21.35 this evening, in the meantime I'm in the Baobab lounge at the airport trying to make myself comfortable.
Passengers have been offered a room at the 'Inn until 6pm, but I preferred the Lounge and the chance to catch up on surfing.
If only I had known I could have stayed at home another day cutting the grass and feeding the rabbits.
Last month my MH flight KUL-ZRH was an hour late so missed the connection to London, that was another 5 hours in a lounge.
Will keep you posted on this one

From The Star newspaper article, “a backup technical crewmember was found to have exceeded the permitted flying hours.”, and, "MAS, in strict compliance with international aviation safety standards and placing paramount importance to safety of passengers and aircraft, retimed the flight."
Obviously the Admin. and Scheduling Departments are doing good jobs in keeping track of crews' hours - NOT!
Mana Ada Sistem, boleh!

GOOD NEWS FOR AVIATION
Bravo,
The aviation uptrend has finally unveil itself. Aviation is the most fluid industry ever and gets affected by globalisation the most. The world economy is on the uptrend...even airlines in USA are getting their recovery.
My dear pilot fraternity, we must know it is very important that we know of our true values. What has happened in Malaysia with all the flight delays now are just exactly what globalisation is all about. The world is only so small now. One stroke on the keyboard and one will know almost everything. MAS has to acknowledge that their pilots are very valuable and are the backbone of the company. Pay them peanuts and at the end you are left with monkeys.
TREAD THEM WITH RESPECT AND VALUES, THEY GO THE EXTRA MILES WITH YOU.
TREAT N PAY THEM LIKE LORRY DRIVERS AND YOU WILL GET GROUNDED AIRPLANES.
MAS, U have good pilots but you have lousy managers.

From the Pax
We eventually left Jo'burg at 22.20, arriving in KL on Tuesday afternoon at 14.29. There was an apology from the Purser but no explanation.
For the record, the new entertainment system does not work too well. This happened on my outbound flight last Friday MH 203 and this fated flight MH 202. I could not determine from the crew if it was the same aircraft, none of the interactive game sites were available. And don't you just need them when your sleep pattern and schedule has been shot to pieces.
As usual the cabin staff were attentive and the food was A1.

Yes, while all these flights are being re-scheduled, old toady's been seen flying special flights only (like special charter to Medinah) and VVIP flights (this time TGG state exco, including it's chief minister).
Why, one of these VIPs was bragging to me that he was invited into the flight deck during flight. Is this not a contravention of company's safety and security policy?
While flt ops is in crisis, toady's still gunning for another title. And, this one's special cos it comes from his home state, and he wants it bad.
Urgh!

The Toad need not worry as he only have a year to go before his retirement, that' why he's lining up his egg nest.Brilliant move as in a year's time it won't be his problem anymore.Typical of a Malaysian GLC..........
Guess the press is having a ball now with 'sources' cropping up from the woodworks to inform them of the present situation.Read 'em & weep.....
MAS pilots leaving
Hopefully, this source will not jeopardise the pilot's union in negotiations. As it is, press reports can be viewed from diffferent angles with undesirable results....... Hopefully it doesn't backfire.Good luck guys,.....I have voted ....... with my feet

whoa... looks like the **** has hit the fan.
surprisingly there has been no comment from any MAS officials regarding these new allegations. except for the one which said they have 22'000 staff and all that ****. (which i translate as: i don't need your ass, you can buzz the **** off)
well i definately hope some good comes out from all this hoo haa. for the sake of the future and all mankind.
*keeps fingers crossed*

But I was under the impression that the Middle East is horrible. All at the Middle East forum say they treat you as slaves and everyone isn't satisfied with Dubai's living costs getting higher.
Obviously not all pilots visit pprune, but maybe things aren't that bad in the Middle East...although I have my doubts.....
