question for pilots with Asian airlines?

I am a First Officer with a regional airline in America, and I have been offered a pilot position with a major airline in Asia. What is more valuable, Captain time in an ERJ-145 or F/O time in a wide-body jet? Would you leave your regional airline for a major in Asia?

Go 4 it!!!
Get time on wide-bodies n $$$ in yr pocket.
Once U get enough, start looking around for an a/l that gives upgrades.
U can always go back to commu if no luck away from home...
Cheers

Hey....Its time to fly a real plane!

Flying wide body will bring you lot more experience then Emb 145. In addition to that you will be able to get real international experience other than US-Canada flights.

Another positive perspective is that in a few years when the AmericanAviation Industry recovers , you will be ahead of many others while applying for a major airline ,specially if you made it Captain.

Now its up to you to decide to continue flying a regional aircraft or step up to the real world where business gets done.

Question .Do you have 500/1000 PIC in that jet?If you do I would say yes and head to Asia.If not I would wait untill you do.Remember most majors state side want that PIC time.By the way I love and always have fun on trips to Asia.

I agree with filejw. The other responders don't understand the dynamics of airline hiring in the United States.. If you ever want to work for a major in the States you will need 1000 hours PIC. You will not get that for many years if you take a job with EVA/China Airlines. If you have other ambitions then the move might be right for you. Then again, if you are still an F.O. at a regional in the States there isn't any guarantee that you will upgrade. It would depend on which airline you are working for and your present seniority. A move to EVA/China Airlines might be a good stepping stone to someplace like Cathay, Dragonair, Emirates, Etihad, etc.
