Snoop Asian JAR ?

Is anyone out there aware that recently in Singapore a very high powered meeting of many of the Aviation Authorities in the region, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hongkong and Taiwan was held with a view to introducing a JAR type licencing requirement for all pilots operating under those authorities within the joint regions.

Proposed was an introduction date of July 2005 with a requirement for all pilots licenced by the above authorities to have the proposed licence by end December 2006.

Current licenced pilots in the region would have automatic conversion, all other applicants would have to meet yet to be determined requirements similar to the European JAR.
