Mas really needs pilot... and i not enough applicant

i think MAS is super desperate now...

and either not enough applicants who apply or not enough applicants who pass......

Because...
for the pass month until now...

MAS had been advertising and also revealing their CARGO pilot's lifestyle... and included interviews with 3 crews... Captain, FO, F/E.

also today, 10th JULY 2004 saturday... TV3, PROGRAMME:Majalah Tiga

there's a TV programme ermm.. basiclly, pilot's job in the cockpit, lifestyle.....

well... the pilot who appeared in the TV programme is the same as those who MAS advertised in the Newspaper.

..

i think they are quite desperate........

also.,.,, one of the pilot say, ten years ago, when MAS is flooded pilots, he had to work as Air Stewards.... before becoming FO

cargo

yesh...MAS is short of pilots, but that doesnt mean that they will lower the standard for the intake.

They are advertising so that people are aware of their recruitment. So nobody will complain that they missed the boat.

Cool

MAS is putting max adverts on TV only to promote themselves and hopefully have public backing for the national carrier, not to get more pilots.

Standards in MAS has dropped, from past. (as far as I can see). The ethics of a pilot being friendly, helpful,....just the normal coutesy of being an airline pilot is out the door.

No, they are not desperate, just trying to blow sunshine up everybody's asses. It sounds crude, but true. Unless, they change, people will continue leaving the airline and the public will continue to make jokes about them.

Hv a jolly time flying

Post MAS

For MAS requirements have a look at this link. They explain quite well on their website what they want from a candidate.

As someone has already said

Why would a chap with a "respectable NZ CPL/MEIR with 330TT and a few ATPLs" want to work with MAS?
Wouldn't it be better to work for a respectable airline like ANZ (or wouldn't they take you too?)

Do you think that with 330TT you can teach those from the third world a thing or two about aviation?

Respectable my ...
And as a aviation employer myself, I wouldn't hire you and your percieved superiority complex.....

Arrow Hi Dani

Look again...

They are indeed looking for direct entry pilots under "Technical Crew-Direct Intake".

Cypher. I would ignore that coolguy type. What a prat. With that attitude he will end up being a statistic and an accident report.

Hey Guys,

MAS is going to be hiring extensivly in the near future as a lot of pilots are leaving and, the aviation industry as a whole will be facing a pilot shortage in 2005.

For those of you that have low hours and no type rating and not a Malaysian I would not be detered because it will be the laws of supply and demand that will dictate from where and what experience levels the airline will recruit. For instance MAS cadet pilots go straight from flying school to the B734 via CBT & SIM.

MAS does have good standards and well I do not think this will be compromised over the long term so you will have to know your stuff to get in and get on line.

Back in 89 up to 93 MAS had a lot of expat Captains & FO's from DHC-6 to the DC-10. But at that time they were lucky as a lot of experienced pilots from Australia were available due to their unfortunate enmass resignation during their dispute. These pilots did a lot for MAS which goes unrecognised up to today. (But thats a different story) This time around I do not think they will have that option.

So in true MAS fashion there will be a mad panic and a scramble to get pilots when they run short and their HR department will hire all that are still on their files regardless of race, creed, qualifications or colour. But be prepared to start on the lower fleets. But, if the need arises they will put expats on the wide bodies as they have done it before.

At present MAS guys are leaving at a fast and furious pace so combined with the firm orders for new aircraft compared to aircraft retiring from the system it would be a rather safe bet that a real shortage is looming.

An other thing is that with heads rolling and bombs blasting in the Mid-East many expats are quite rightly pulling out as their safety cannot be guranteed, this is one reason MAS and the other SE Asian carriers will face shortages as their A330/777 guys are in great demand at significantly better salaries so they are quite a lot of fellows gone and going.

So keep your options open as I think the job market across the board will be very bullish for pilots May 2005 onwards.

Good luck to all and safe and happy flying.

Wooblah.

Could you please give us the further directions on where to find these pilot positions on the website. I don't know if they have been removed but I can not find them.

hi evry1,

i've just completed my training in melaka and would like some advice on getting a job...
currently my choices are between airasia or mas...
1) with mas, ive gone thru the mispa and sim assestment test and will have been called up for the interview...wat are the chances of getting thru and get posted on the 73s, instead of F50 or DHC6?
2) According to mas, they will offer a two years contract after which will be absorb as permanent. what are the chances of that statement being true and will we be getting our seniority no?
3)ive submitted my cv's to airasia and still waiting for a reply. Any advice on which airline is better for my case and would really apreciate if accompany with detail explaination.

regards,
xstatic... :

You'll be,at best,in F50 as 737 will normally be of cadets. 2 year contract is a mess as u will be in the seniority list after u turn permanent. Ok if you're young and patient. Go to AA,mate.Fly for 6 years, get your command then run

Consider

Bear in mind that it's easier to jump from MAS to Air Asia then from Air Asia to MAS once you're employed. 2 years contract might feel like a long time, but in the long term that patience might pay off.
